I had the absolute pleasure and honor of sitting down with Lubov Azria, wife of Max Azria, and Chief Creative Officer to the whole BCBGMAXAZRIAGROUP of over 20 brands yesterday at Neiman Marcus in Boca Raton! I was left in awe of Lubov; she was absolutely stunning for starters, so warm and personable, and such a profound speaker. Everything she said to me I felt was a life lesson that I should and will treasure always. You can just tell how passionate she is about life and simpRifkinlly radiates inner and outer beauty. Plus, she had on a killer Herve Leger dress from the new collection matched with an even more killer leather jacket which never hurts. Can we say girl crush? Here’s a glimpse of our chat…
How does it feel being so successful as a female business woman?
To me, success means doing what you love and I’m loving every minute of it. I work with the most amazing team and we inspire each other every day and that’s what really matters. I want to come to work, I want to be part of something bigger than I am. It’s been an incredible experience and I’m just so blessed!
How is it to work so closely with your husband? I know I’d kill mine! (And he would kill me as well of course.)
I think the biggest difference is my husband is 18 years older than I am and he is truly my mentor. He is my everything. He’s the vision and I’m very detail-oriented so I think we compliment each other well. Plus it’s good that his office is waaay on the other side of the other building! We sometimes meet for lunch, we’re kind of in a dating period at work!
What’s your favorite thing in your closet right now?
I can’t pick one! If I had to leave everything behind and just take one item it would be the first dress that my daughter made me. She went to sewing camp and made this green…thing. And I have to say that the whole idea that she thought about me while she was doing it, makes it one thing I don’t think I could part with. It’s important to own things that make you feel good, that bring back memories to you.
What are some tips for women who are trying to look chic, but while on a budget?
I think it’s a sense of style, it’s not about a price. You can’t buy style. It’s about understanding your body and what looks good on you. You have to find your own style and the best way to do that is by playing… The reason why some women don’t like to go shopping is because there’s an obligation to buy something, you don’t. You have to just enjoy it, have fun, whether you’re on a budget or not, it’s really about celebrating yourself.
What’s the key to balancing your work, your marriage, and your children?
I think letting go of control. I think it’s very important not to think you can control everything and everything has to be your way. It’s really about being present and enjoying everything that comes your way and making the best of it. You have one life to live so celebrate it!
What is your personal go-to outfit?
I think anything that makes me feel beautiful. With the team that we work with we don’t make anything unless we love it. It’s putting something that you love on and that makes you feel so amazing. I like to dress for different moods and live up to those moods, but the go-to outfit is whatever gives you confidence.
If you could give my readers one fashion tip, what would it be?
Live your life to the fullest. Fashion is there to help you dress up and play. In life you don’t find yourself, you create yourself. So create the best you can be.
