Emmy Fashion

Since the Emmys 2012 Fashion Police special aired last night (one of my favorite things about awards shows), I figured I’d pretend to be on the panel and give you my take on the biggest trends we saw this past Sunday night at the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards.

Color Trends

We saw multiple shades of yellows , most memorable were worn by the following ladies who not only were nominated, but all of them actually won in their vibrant hues:

Julie Bowen in Monique Lhullier – Julie looked absolutely stunning in this gown and was one of my personal favorites of the evening.  Big congrats to Julie for winning Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy for the second year in a row for her role as the amazing Claire Dunphy in Modern Family, one of my favorite shows!

Claire Danes in Lanvin – Claire claimed she picked this for it’s comfort, which I understand as she is expecting but still not sure it was the most flattering cut.  So happy for she and her husband though, Angela Chase is all grown up!

Julianne Moore in Christian Dior – No matter what critics say I actually loved this gown!  It of course could have/should have been dressed up a little more with maybe a bright statement necklace or possibly something different with her hair, but the dress is gorgeous.

Orange was another bright shade we saw during the evening.  Ginnifer Goodwin rocked an awesome Monique Lhullier gown which I personally think she pulled off really well with her pixie haircut.  Leslie Mann, in Naeem Khan, looked beautiful in her ensemble, pairing it with turquoise jewelry, a messy bun, and she was clearly loving her pockets.

We also saw many shades of dark reds, specifically on Kat Dennings looking amazinggg while showing her girls off in a J Mendel gown, Jena Mallone also in J Mendel, and winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Vera Wang (who called her personally asking if she could design Julia’s gown for her).  I have to say at 51 years old, Julia Louis-Dreyfus rocked it!  I’m not just saying that as a lifelong Seinfeld fan, I thought the dress was beautiful.  Then again, the day that Vera Wang calls me asking if she can make me a gown for my husband Jared’s upcoming political fundraiser, I’d expect that one to be beautiful as well.  (Vera, I’m available anytime to go over sketchings.)

Fresh Meat

The newly single women in Hollywood took advantage of the big night to look HOT!  The first of course being Ms Heidi Klum, in a sky blue Alexandre Vauthier gown, donned what is possibly the highest slit I’ve ever seen.  But if anybody could pull it off, it would be her and those legs.  No wonder why she supposedly hasn’t stayed off the market very long.  Another soon-to-be-divorcee who looked probably the best I’ve ever seen was the absolutely hilarious Amy Poehler (if you didn’t catch her bit with Julia Louis-Dreyfus after losing Best Actress in a Comedy series, watch it on YouTube now!  Well, after you’re done reading of course…) in Stella McCartney.  The fact that I actually have to refer to her as single breaks my heart as I’m still coping with the split of her and Will Arnett.  But she truly did look great!

Funny Gals

In addition to Amy, there were many other funny gals in attendance.  Some broght the glam, others not as much.  Zooey Deschanel stuck true to her quirky, retro style in a pale blue laser cut Reem Acra gown.  I actually loved the bright pop of lipstick she wore, however I could have done without the televisions nail art, but then again that’s why we love her.  Speaking of which, New Girl returns tonight with a two episode premiere.  I’m a big fan!

Amy Poehler’s BBF, Tina Fey in Vivienne Westwood, never looked better!

Other funny girls who I personally love, weren’t as successful with their looks, such as Kristen Wiig and Lena Dunham.  But since I truly adore them both (Kristen, I’ll miss you so much on SNL and Lena, you are a genius and so successful and are younger than me, what the hell?… Do you like how I pretend celebs are reading my blog? Ha!), I’ll skip over them and just remind everyone they have great personalities…

Arm Candy

Many times the not-as famous dates of Hollywood’s men and women don’t get enough credit as they should.  Here were my favorite significant others:

Lauren Parsekian, winner Aaron Paul’s bombshell of a fiancé.

Jennifer Westfeldt, Jon Hamm’s long time girlfriend looking beautiful as always.

Keith Lieberthal, Julianna Margulies’s hunk of a hubby!  Woah!

Random Crushes

So I have to say there are a couple of people I am majorly crushing and seeing them work it on the red carpet only made me love them more.

The first is the beautiful and talented Allison Williams who plays Marnie in Girls (fun fact: she daughter to the legendary news anchor and closet funnyman Brian Williams).  I think she is simply stunning in this emerald gown, and I am obsessed with the hot pink lace dress she rocked at a pre-Emmy’s party.

I’m also crushing Max Greenfield from New Girl who does an amazing job as Schmidt on the show.  Max looked dapper as can be in his tux and a stud at the after party with co-star Zooey.  Plus, tall, dark, funny, and Jewish?!  (Read that he had a Saturday Night Live themed Bar Mitzvah, I swoon.)  How could I not be crushing??  Sorry Jared…

Hope you loved the big show as much as I did!
