Lilly Ghalichi Q&A

So I had the chance to meet with Ms. Lilly Ghalichi from Bravo’s Shahs of Sunset a couple of weeks ago while she was in town promoting her new line of false eyelashes, Lilly Lashes, as well as her sexy swimsuit line, Have Faith Swimgerie, at the always amazing Alene Too in Boca.  And I have to say, I had so much fun chatting it up with the fabulous Persian Barbie, who definitely is not just all beauty!

How was the experience of not only filming the show, but then looking back and watching yourself?

Insane!  I think watching yourself is the hardest part.  Filming is easy, it’s fun, you forget the cameras are even there, and you just live your everyday life! Watching yourself on TV is an entirely different thing! You’re like, “Wait!  I am not that stupid!  Why did I say that?!  Why did I do that?!  Why am I wearing that?!”  It’s hard, you’re really critical of yourself!

But you’re happy with the experience?

I’m happy I did it, but I’m not entirely happy with how it turned out.  But it’s great to see yourself because you see where you need to improve.  I really saw some things that I’m trying to make changes to.

You are a lawyer, an entrepreneur, fashion designer, author, and reality star.  As exhausting as that sounds, what’s next for you?

Hair extensions, I’ll be releasing Lilly Hair soon!  I also started a charity this past summer, called Project Glam.  My Glam Squad and I are visiting hospitals, under privilege schools, and glamming girls up for prom, graduation, and just to brighten their day!

What made you begin your false lashes line?

Filming!  I was using so many false lashes and was disappointed with the bulky strands, and felt like some were too outrageous, some were too natural looking so I started looking into the source and where they came from.  And then Lilly Lashes was born and it’s been a huge success and I’m so happy to share them with everyone!  (Side note: we then chatted about my own lashes for roughly 10 seconds, I died!)

What’s your go-to outfit?

Sweats.  I wear men’s sweats, I don’t like women’s sweats because they’re too fitted, so I wear men’s sweats from H&M, throw my hair in a bun, and go to work.  (I insisted that I highly doubt that and even if it was true, she’d still make it look fierce as can be.)

So in all seriousness, the other day I was at the makeup counter because I live there, and I plopped myself down and I said ‘I need coverage.  I need good coverage.  I need to look like Lilly.  What do I do?’ How on earth do you get your skin looking so flawless?  What’s your makeup regimen?

My favorite foundation is Studio Fix by MAC.  Today we mixed it with another foundation, so it’s not quite as heavy as it usually is, but I have to admit it’s not the foundation, it’s the person who’s applying it.

So we’re all screwed?

Ha!  Yea, you just need my makeup artist, Etienne Ortega, to come to your house because I try doing it myself and it’s not the same.  So I think it’s half foundation/half technique.  (Note to self: Must interview/kidnap Etienne!)

You have dinner plans at 8p, what time do you start getting ready?

Well am I going casual or am I going “Glam Lilly”?

You’re getting done up, but without help.

I need two hours and that includes washing hair.

I don’t think that’s bad because I take two hours if I’m washing my hair and I certainly don’t come out of my house looking like you!

For many women, they’d rather have a root canal than shop for bathing suits, what would be your one piece of advice for them?

Find a suit that flatters your body.  Not everybody looks the same in every bikini, so you need to find what works best for you, whether it’s a side-tied, a high waist, a one piece, whatever.  And once you find what flatters your body, you’ll feel sexy.  When do we feel the sexiest?  In lingerie.  Swimsuits are no different than lingerie, you just have to find one that makes you feel sexy!
