Today.

Today is a GREAT day!  One of my dearest friends Kristen and her husband Dan welcomed their two twin babies yesterday, Alexander and Olivia!  And today I get to run to the hospital after work I meet the little stinkers that certainly took their time to make their big debut!

I’m also ecstatic and humbled to point out that my little old blog turns ONE today!  It started out of my love for unnecessary items and frivolous topics and my constant desire to talk about said things and while it by no means has changed the blogging world, I’m proud of where it is today but more importantly I’m thankful for my followers, friends, and family for their encouragement.  I love nothing more than when someone refers to something they read on it, as it’s always nice to hear people other than my immediate family care about what I have to say.  Obvi a big shout out to Jared for continuing to put up with me and all that goes into doing so.

Today I also get to share with you a great event coming up this Thursday at my local J.Crew at Towncenter Mall in Boca Raton.  Since I know everyone is getting giddy over Fall styles, J.Crew is inviting everyone to come in and check out their new collection!  You also have a chance of being photographed and featured in an upcoming J.Crew style guide!  To top it off they’re offering 25% off $150 in store!  See details below.

Cosmetic Case of the Mondays

I hope everyone had a great weekend!  On Friday night we went to the Justin Timberlake/Jay-Z Legends of the Summer Tour where we had an absolute blast!  Beforehand though, I finally got to go to the new Parkland location of Blow & Go (have you local girls been yet??) to get my hair blown out as Jared and I were taking maternity photos first thing Saturday morning.  While the concert truly was amazing, being outside in August in South Florida for almost 5 hours is near torture and my hair certainly suffered!

Despite having a semi-hormonal breakdown over my hair in the morning (preggo problems for reals), I was excited to try out a new lipstick I purchased for the photos.  I wanted something that would help pop in the photos, not wash me out, and wouldn’t fade.  I went for MAC’s Mineralize Rich Lipstick in Lush Life, which is a deep cool plum.  Usually with darker shades I stick to more of a matte color, but I actually loved the medium-shine finish and buildable coverage it provided.  Not to mention to how moisturizing it was and during the two hour photoshoot (in which I ate and drank, fyi) I never even had to reapply!  Not once!!

Sometimes finding a good blush to pair such a bold lipstick with can be tricky, so I was happy to see that MAC’s Desert Rose Powder Blush looked great with the lipstick!  This blush was really flattering as a matte, soft reddish-burgundy hue.  Fingers crossed I like the photos as much as I like these products!

Cheers to a great week!

Fashion Friday

Since I’m pretty limited to tanks and maxis these days, I am totally loving this maxi by Lilly Pulitzer (which is funny since I’m definitely not the “Lilly” type most of the time, or I should say all of the time).  It looks like the most chic and colorful maxi to wear for multiple occasions.  And it looks comfortable.  And it could fit my belly.

What are your thoughts?  Love it or leave it?

Have a great weekend!

Humpday Helper

So as you probably guessed this morning, I didn’t have a blog for today.  Last night I was just too tired after consuming a delicious pizza dinner (my priorities these days…) to try and think of anything that may be slightly entertaining and helpful.  But then I just watched what may be the best viral video I’ve seen in a loooong time and knew I had to share it today.  Meet Sam, a young man from Dallas who put on the most elaborate burlesque routine as his entrance into his Bar Mitzvah.  While he entered manhood, I feel like I just entered Studio 54.  From the confetti to the ever-so-underwhelming applause, to the bow at the end, to the SECOND, SOLO bow at the end..it’s beyond amazeballs. Oh wait, it gets better!  Sam, who is clearly no stranger to the life of a performer had already filmed a Call Me Maybe Bar Miztvah video last year.  Double Chai to Sam!  I double dog dare you to find antyhing more helpful today and throughout the week.

Blow and Go

So I’m pretty sure the blow dry hair salon is the best invention in a loooong time.  You get to have someone else wash, dry, and style your hair (one of the things I loathe most in life) for one small fee, what’s not to love?!  Well I fell in love with Blow and Go, Boca Raton’s first ever blow dry salon, about a year ago when it opened and it soon became quite the addiction, seriously.  The decor looks like Elle Woods and Cher Horowitz designed it, they offer delicious sweet treats and beverages, sell blowpro hair products and adorable accessories, play your favorite girly movies such as The Devil Wears Prada and Clueless, and you can even pay to get super glammed up and get your makeup done exclusively with your favorite Too Faced products!  Each blowout, no matter of hair length is only $35 (wash included) and even better, you can start each week with $25 blowouts on Mondays and Tuesdays!  View the full menu to see everything they offer and I promise you’ll want to book your appointment asap, which you can do online, could they make it any easier?!

blow and go

Well, I almost peed myself of excitement when I found out they were opening a second location in Parkland!  (My apologies for the South Florida specific post today.)  Now you have your choice of locations to get dolled up for a night out, a girls lunch, a party, or wedding (someone else’s or even your own!).  Need to buy your fav gal pal a gift?  Purchase a Blow and Go gift certificate today (cough cough Jared).

Now I’ve saved the best for last, to help celebrate Blow and Go’s Grand Opening in Parkland, mention Live Love Lipstick and receive a FREE makeup application with any blowout for the rest of the week!  Yes, FREE makeup application with any blowout, woop woop!  Not to mention you can still take advantage of $25 ‘Go Tuesdays’ today!

Cosmetic Case of the Mondays

I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!  I’m so happy that I was able to go away (for the last time pre-baby, eek!) to PA to spend a nice relaxing weekend with Jared, my mom, and my grandparents!

While away, Marc Jacobs finally debuted his highly anticipated new beauty and makeup line at Sephora on Friday, congrats MJ!!  I’ve been reading about the new collection for a couple of months now and the wait has been killing me, I can’t wait to check it out in person!  Although the prices are a bit steep, I’m totally drooling over the packaging, which is totally adorbs.  Here are some of the items that I definitely want to try out…

Marc Jacobs

Magic Marc’er Precision Pen: This has got to be the most gorg eyeliner I’ve ever seen as it resembles a calligraphy pen for drawing the finest lines and achieving perfect definition.  This waterproof liquid liner apparently is a “never-seen-before” shade that was developed in Japan to create the shiniest and blackest black on the market.  Talk about dedication!

LoveMarc – Lip Gel Lipstick: These “gellified” lipsticks are color-saturated, long-wearing, and offer a sleek shine and subtle vanilla scent, yum!  “Seduce Me”, which is a berry red, looks gorgeous especially with Fall right around the corner!

Lust For Lacquer Lip Vinyl Lip Gloss: These glosses come in Sheer and Full and are champagne-grape infused and include a plumping formula.  I’d have to see exactly how sheer the “Sheer” ones are since I normally prefer stronger color, but “Overprotected” does look like a gorgeous shimmering pastel pink.  As far as the “Full” ones, “Fame” looks like a beautiful raspberry red gloss.

Lash Lifter – Gel Volume Mascara: No surprise here that I’m aching to try the mascara in the line!  This one claims to be the blackest, shiniest mascara that promises lift, length, volume, and curl.  That’s quite the list!  Also, the innovative triangle brush design creates perfect lash separation with no clumping and perfect product deposit onto lashes.  Umm, sounds like heaven!

O!Mega Bronze – Perfect Tan Bronzer: This bronzer looks beautiful.  It’s a jumbo-size bronzing powder with a radiant-matte finish for the face and body.  It comes in just one supposedly universal shade, Tantric, and provides a natural, flawless glow.  While $49 is definitely pricey for a bronzer, since I’m a TOTAL sucker for bronzers, I at least want to test it out!  (Famous last words…)

Brow Tamer Grooming Gel: For someone who has the potential to heavy crazy brows, this product definitely raises mine up! This is a soft-holding gel formula that grooms, shapes, and holds your eyebrows in place all day long.  The innovative formula and caterpillar brush work together to define and lift your brows for a look that is polished, but never stiff.  Fun fact: this grooming gel was made-to-order for Marc himself, who considers brow shaping to be an essential step in his morning ritual.

Lip Lock Moisture Balm: This is a buttery, rich lip balm with SPF 18 that claims to lock in hydration may be the perfect thing for my ridiculously dry lips.  It provides a minty flavor and perhaps the name of the “color” will help you not get hung up on the price ($24) – Makeout.  Oh Marc…

What items are you interested in checking out??

Cheers to a great week!

Humpday Helper

So a couple month’s back I shared with you what was currently playing on my Pandora and iPhone as I turn to music to help me get through the work week.  Well since I think of myself as an amateur DJ (DJ Riffy on the turn tables, what what!), I figured I’d share with you another list of tunes to help get you over this week’s hump.

holy grail

Holy Grail by Jay Z featuring Justin Timberlake: Getting ready for next week’s final stop of their Legends of the Summer tour down here…can’t wait!

Global Concepts by Robert DeLong: A little funky, but I love it!

Shake Ya Tailfeather by Nelly, P. Diddy & Murphy Lee: Let me express again how much I love the Pop2K station on Sirius XM, especially when this song comes on and it instantly brings me back to my freshman year at FSU with my sorority sisters.  How is it already 10 years old? Woof.

Don’t Wake Me Up by Avicii featuring Aloe Blacc: Such a great, get-you-going song, period.

Black & Blue by Miike Snow: An oldie from ’09, but a goodie.

The Time is Now by Gretchen Rossi: Just kiddingggg, that was terrible!
