Cosmetic Case of the Mondays

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!  My apologies for no Fashion Friday post last week; I had full intentions of covering the Phillip Lim for Target collection that went on sale yesterday, but I was too preoccupied, excited, frazzled, and every other fabulous adjective one can possess when one of their best friend’s goes into labor!  I’m beyond happy to congratulate our friends who have turned into family, Lara and Scott, on the arrival of their adorable son, Ethan!  I had such an incredible past couple of days spending time with the now Family of 3, as well as our own family for Yom Kippur.  (We’ll discuss the Phillip Lim for Target collection later…)

I get so giddy when someone I know or even better, someone I don’t personally know, reaches out to me with a makeup inquiry, tip, etc.  It’s a great feeling knowing people are actually reading and now interacting!  (Side note: I forgot to share that I was at the mall a couple of weeks ago taking advantage of Clinique Bonus at Bloomies when two women came up to me letting me know that they recognized me and that they follow my blog.  I almost fell over…and then realized how disgusting I looked and that they must be second guessing who they’re taking makeup and fashion advice from.  I even asked Jared if he secretly knew them or paid them to tell me that.)  It was great to receive a message from one of my sorority sisters, Samantha, asking if I had tried out Loreal’s new Magic Nude Liquid Powder.  I always get so excited to try a new product, especially a good drugstore find, so I ran out the next day to do so to allow me to report back with my thoughts!  Here’s my breakdown:

magic nude

Pros:

  • Cheap.  You can probably find it for $10-14.
  • Comes in 12 different shades.  I opted for Buff Beige, which was a really pretty color!
  • Blended in really nicely, best to do so with your fingers.

Cons:

  • Not the easiest to dispense since you have to shake really well and then just let it pour out on your fingers and it’s very thin and it’s seriously liquidy.
  • Comes in a glass bottle which in theory sounds nice, but once again doesn’t help dispensing and I’m just waiting for it to fall, break, and Jared kill me.
  • The coverage is not strong, which could be a pro for some people but definitely a con for me.

All in all I enjoy the color and the overall look of the product but since I prefer a full coverage, I prefer wearing it along with foundation and possibly another pressed powder.  Yes, I’m a closet drag queen.

Cheers to a great week!

Xo,

Leah
