Cosmetic Case of the Mondays

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend (and previous week, oops!). We had a great low key, and yet still eventful weekend which was perfect since we’re still recovering from my sister-in-law’s amazinggggg wedding the weekend before. We all had a great time, including Samuel who served as Groomsbaby.

So whenever I have a big event, I like to look back on some of the products I used and decide which ones I ended up liking because as well as know, sometimes the product that looked good in your bathroom mirror doesn’t look good hours later in the evening or in photos even minutes after applying. Here are my top picks from the wedding weekend:

asos dress

nars 2

Red lipstick: I wore this red dress for the rehearsal dinner (which I absolutely loved and want to purchase in other colors) and decided to pair it with a matching red lipstick. When matching a lip to an outfit, especially red, it has to be pretty spot-on. I purchased quite a few lipsticks so I could color match at home (call me crazy, whatever), but ended up wearing NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl which I already owned, allowing me to return the others. The lip pencil ended up being a perfect match and I was relieved that it wasn’t overly bold matching my lips to the dress. As always, be sure to use a lip primer before applying your lipstick!

chocolate soleil

Bronzer: I went ahead and got a spray tan prior to the weekend (as I was a lovely olive skin paste that really brought out the jaundice I had when I was born), but I of course felt it necessary to still use a little bronzer. I chose to go with one of my favorites, Too Faced Chocolate Soleil. I love how this bronzer is matte so I can apply it allover, and then use a highlighter where I want a glow. And yes, I of course love the smell of it.

paper lantern

Lip gloss: I had my makeup done for the wedding but wanted a lip gloss to use throughout the night for touch-ups so I went through my collection while I was packing and brought some of my favorite MAC glosses to be able to mix and match. I used both Right Image (a midtone light pink), and Paper Lantern (a frosted soft pink) towards the middle of my lips. It created a great look that complimented my dramatic, smoky eyes. If you’re wanting more of a neutral pink, Just Superb also looks great with Paper Lantern. If you’re looking for a longwear gloss with the same cool, light pink look, I love MAC’s Next Fad. (Confession: By the end of the night who knows what glosses I ended up mixing from the bunch I threw in my clutch, thanks to all of the ”celebratory” cocktails.) And typically I love using these on top of MAC’s Peach Blossom lipstick which is the perfect pink/peach/nude.

Congrats again to Mr & Mrs Isrow!

P.S. You have just shy of two weeks to order your AEsthetica Cosmetics Contour Kit for 50% off with the promo LIVELOVELIPSTICK, don’t forget!!

Xo,
Leah
