So I clearly have my fair share of makeup. Like more than the average bear. Ok, I have a lot of f-ing makeup and technically shouldn’t get another beauty item for the next decade. So I try to avoid falling weak when I see a new collection and buy the whole thing but when I saw MAC’s new It’s A Strike collection, I could’ve bought almost every item before even trying them on. I mean, look at these colors!
These shades have me so ready for Fall, I wanted to share my faves so you can share in my excitement and purchase your faves before they’re all sold out (and yes, they’re selling out, I actually have two more items that are coming in the mail because my local store was sold out of them). Some of the pieces in the collection are staple colors, just like many collections, so I tried to just focus on the limited shades.
Lipsticks
Perfect Score: Described as Deep Red, I was happy that it was a Matte finish as I usually prefer a matte look especially with a bold red lip. The color is rich, full of pigment, and was easy to apply evenly. And while I have more red lipsticks than I can count, as soon as I tried it on I knew I needed to add it to my collection. I like that it’s a deep red, different than a classic cherry red, but not completely dark like a brick red. I’m really excited to wear this during the upcoming seasons!
Babes & Balls: This lipstick is exclusive to mac.com and is described as a Deep Burgundy. Again, was relieved it had a Matte finish and I’m SUCH a sucker for a berry lip. In my opinion, it’s the perfect shade for Fall and will totally complete an outfit of skinny jeans, booties, and long cardi. If you remember my obsession for ‘Fashion Revival‘, this is similar but a little darker and they’re both amazing!
Cremesheen Lip Gloss
It’s A Strike: Typically I don’t gravitate towards glosses since lipsticks excite me more, but I was definitely drawn to this one which is described as a Soft Nude Pink, but I actually think it’s almost more of a soft nude mauve, which I really like. I think it’ll be perfect worn alone for subtle color and shine and probably will also look amazing worn over my favorite light pinks/nudes/mauves (Please Me, Angel, Lovelorn, Captive..to name a few).
Eye Shadow
300 Game: This is described as Blackened Cherry and is as pigmented as all of MAC’s other shadows and I loved again how different it is than other shades you see and probably own.
Bowl Out: This shadow is described as a Midtone Grey and while I decided not to purchase it because I had to make sure my husband wouldn’t leave or kill me, I wanted to just note how pretty this shadow really is! While it may be a little similar to other shades you’ve seen (because it’s so pretty and versatile), I love the pigmented color and really like that it’s matte. You can mix it with anything and it would look great…and I’m currently regretting not buying it, sigh.
Face Powder/Highlighter
Trophy: This is described as a Pearlmatte Face Powder and I’m pretty sure the packaging sells itself. But once you stop smiling over the bowling pin and ball design, you’ll see how gorgeous – and different this highlighter is. I like that it gives off a subtle pinky blush/white highlight, which sounds weird but once you blend and buff (and blend again because the white dominates), you’ll see how beautiful this powder looks!
Lip & Cheek Colour
Blind Score: Described as a Dirty Red Lilac, I was completely intrigued by this cream cheek and lip colour as soon as I saw it. I loved that it was completely different than other blush shades I have and that I could wear it on my lips as well. I have a feeling this will compliment any plum and berry lipstick when worn as a blush for a perfect monochromatic look. Just use sparingly and build, especially so it doesn’t remove any of your face makeup.
Nail Polish
5 Pin: There’s not much to say about this nail polish, which is described as a Deep Wine, except that it is the PERFECT polish for Fall. Period.
So now you’re biggest decision of the weekend is what are you going to buy?!
Xo,
Leah
