Humpday Helper

Here’s your helpful tip of the day: buy this jumpsuit.  I (along with Andy Cohen) am such a sucker for a good jumpsuit and I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a chic looking one for under $30.  Yea that’s right, it’s from Forever21.  Order now while it’s still available!

November Magazine Article

How on earth is it already November?? Here’s my new magazine article for the month.

November screen shot

As we are now in November, the holidays are fully upon us!  I love this time of year when the weather is beautiful, darker hues are being worn, and parties are beginning to be planned. Here are some products that I’m currently thankful for!

Too Faced Le Crème Lip Balm: I’m always prone to dry lips but still like to wear color so I love a good tinted balm.  This Too Faced product provides great moisture as well as beautiful sheer shades.  My favorite for Fall is Plum Crazy.  ($22; Ulta)

Drybar Triple Sec 3-in-1: New from the coveted brand, this three-in-one is a volumizer, texturizer, and dry shampoo.  When your hair is dull and tired, this spray is sure to wake it up and leave it looking fresh! ($25; Sephora)

Lancome Grandiose Wide-Angle Fan Effect Mascara: I’m always looking for the perfect mascara to coat each and every one of my lashes.  This brand new Swan Neck Wand provides length, lift, and volume to even your shortest lashes.  This innovative formula is also supposed to stay fresh a month longer than others!  ($32; Nordstrom and other department stores)

Remember, we are now featuring an Ask Leah portion in the column!  For any beauty q’s you have, email them to beauty@lmgfl.com

Reader: I always feel like my makeup wears off by mid-day, how do I prolong it without having to apply double?
LLL: Before applying your makeup, always make sure to use a primer!  Think of it as your base coat nail polish, or even paint primer before painting your house.  The primer will provide a smooth canvas, hydrating your skin, and keeping makeup looking fresh and will help prevent fading.

Have a great month!

Cosmetic Case of the Mondays

I hope everyone had a terrific Halloween weekend!  It was quite eventful for us, celebrating with kiddies as well as adults, and we enjoyed every minute of the absolutely beautiful weather here in South Florida! If only Sam had enjoyed trick or treating as much as I had, but after taking just a 25 minute nap that day (yea, that’s right) he wasn’t exactly feeling it and passed out while we were walking around collecting our goodies.  This was him and his BFF dressed up as Woody and Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story.  To infinity and beyond!

buzz and woody

Now that it’s November, the makeup and beauty holiday gift sets are going to be hitting the shelves, and then will be flying off the shelves.  One of my favorite annual sets, Sephora Favorites Superstars, is out for the season and besides it making the perfect gift for anyone who likes anything remotely amazing it’s also the perfect present to yourself to replenish any items you’re out of as well as to try out some other products that you haven’t yet had the chance of falling in love with.

Kate Spade & Jack Spade for GapKids

So I’m embarrassed that I’ve been blogging so infrequently, not that anyone else has probably noticed nor cares, but I do.  I feel like October has been 5 seconds long, which sucks considering I love the month so much!  I’ve been absolutely swamped, but with all such amazing things!  I had my son’s first birthday party (which I’m still waiting to share due to an issue with my photos…on standby, sigh), an amazing trip to Mexico for an even more amazing wedding (#vivajohnson), and then the following weekend I had the honor of hosting my sister-in-law’s bridal shower which turned out truly beautiful!  And here we are, almost the end of the month, which of course means Halloween, woop woop!

Even though it’s not ‘Fashion Friday’ I wanted to talk about my new favorite collaboration that came out today; Kate Spade and Jack Spade for Gap Kids!  Similar to other past collabs, this is sure to sell out FAST!  (I may or may not have already put in my order at midnight.)  So if there are items you’re eyeing make sure to order online or purchase in store asap!  Here are my faves from the line…

AEsthetica Contour Kit

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!  I had the privilege of being in Mexico for the most beautiful wedding ever, and Jared and I were sans baby so it also was an amazing (and well needed) vaca!

aesthetica

So in the makeup and beauty world, contouring is currently all the rage.  (Did you happen to catch Melissa Gorga on Watch What Happens Live a couple of weeks ago?  ”There is a lot of contouring going on!” after Andy asked Melissa if she’s had her nose done. Ha!)  Contouring is a makeup technique that can help achieve an array of “changes” to your face, such as thin down a round face, soften a square face, define cheek bones, narrow a large or wide shape nose, define your jawline, create fuller lips, lift saggy eyes, minimize a large forehead, and make eyes look bigger.

Contour colors

So how do you do this, you ask?  Well that can sometimes be rather daunting.  Until now.  AEsthetica Cosmetics has made the perfect Contour Kit, including all of the colors you would need to attain said looks.  I’m currently obsessed with this kit, which includes six colors to be exact, and diagrams on how to contour per your face shape. It’s basically “Contouring for Dummies” making it less intimidating.  AEsthetica has also put together a Contour Brush Set that includes every brush you need for a flawless finish!

Contour brush kit

Best part is AEsthetica is offering my readers 50% (yes, 50%!!) off all orders for the month of October with promo code LIVELOVELIPSTICK. So hurry up and start shopping!  Keep in mind, these would make the best gifts and the holidays are right around the corner!

October Magazine Article

See my new magazine article below for the month of October, because is there a better month of the year??  I think not!  (Especially since my son’s birthday was yesterday…more to come on that!)

October screen shot

South Floridians are celebrating Fall in the tropics.  Regardless of how warm the temperature is, you can start to incorporate some cooler trends into your beauty regimen!  Here’s what I’m recommending for the season…

Sonia Kashuk Limited Edition 15 Piece Professional Brush Set: To celebrate the 15th Anniversary, these limited edition luxe purple and gold brushes will fulfill all of your blush desires without breaking the bank.  Have your current brushes frayed, shed, and lost their shape?  Time for new ones! ($39; Target stores) Also available on Amazon for a higher price since it’s sold out on Target’s website.

Urban Decay Naked2 Basics: Urban Decay has released this set that complements one of my all time favorite palettes, Naked2, featuring six matte taupe-hued neutral shadows.  There is nothing “basic” about this value packed palette! ($29; Ulta)

Ardell False Lashes: Looking to increase your glamour for Halloween parties or a night out?  Just fake it by adding some false lashes to your look! ($4; drugstores)

NARS Audacious Lipstick: NARS is celebrating their 20th anniversary with this new lipstick collection, including 40 exciting new shades.  They glide on so smooth and the color is so rich that after one swoop you’re set, no need for lip liner!  My current favorites are Audrey and Anna.  ($32; Sephora, department stores, and www.narscosmetics.com)

We are now featuring an Ask Leah portion in the column!  For any beauty q’s you have, email them to beauty@lmgfl.com
Reader: Now that summer is over, is it ok to simply rely on the SPF that’s in my daily moisturizer?

Yes you can!  As long as your moisturizer contains an SPF of at least 30 to protect against both UVA and UVB rays then you’re good to go!  If it doesn’t, be sure to apply a separate sunscreen prior to your moisturizer or mix it in.

Have an amazing October everyone!
