J.Crew Denim Drive

Starting today through September 30th, J.Crew is hosting a Denim Drive in their retail stores where if you bring in an old pair of jeans (any brand) you’ll get $20 towards your next in-store denim purchase.  They have partnered up with Blue Jeans Go Green recycling program, who will recycle them into eco-friendly UltraTouch denim insulation for communities in need.  So you get to get rid of your old jeans, receive $20 off your new pair, AND help with a great cause?!  Perfect!

I can’t wait to check out the new Lookout High-Rise Jean, which is their classic Toothpick skinny fit, plus a higher rise which results in a nipped waist, great stretch, and long legs!

And in case you were wondering, offer is valid towards women and mens jeans, which means I get to finally go through Jared’s old jeans and get him some new ones as well!  His faves are the 484 Jean, their slim fit (but not skinny jean).

Stay tuned tomorrow for my other J.Crew picks for Fall!

Cosmetic Case of the Mondays

I hope everyone had a great weekend!  I had a terrific time having my first little getaway with Jared sans baby for my good friend’s engagement party in Tampa.  It was so amazing to see some of my closest friends from college, as well as have some time for ourselves.  And I wasn’t even a nervous wreck!  Parent point for me!

So I know I usually blog earlier in the day, but let’s just say I’m back to reality.  Poor Samuel spent most of his day crying and whining (definitely not napping) due to his teething, which led to poor Leah.  I’m exhausted and drained, and if you follow me on Instagram (which you should, duh) you saw that after the day I had my evening is being spent eating Velveeta mac and cheese, drinking red wine (if you like Pinot Noir, pick up a bottle of Mark West…great and cheap as hell!), reading my People Style Watch, and watching Bachelor in Paradise.  Btw for those of you who watch, did you see the previews for next week’s two night event?? YOPO!

Days that I feel this spent, I’m so tempted to just treat myself to some e-retail therapy.  Don’t worry Jar, I won’t, but if I were to here are some items I’m “Windows” shopping for…

louboutin nail polish

Christian Louboutin finally ventures into the beauty world with Rouge Louboutin, a timeless red nail polish that’s suited for any skin tone and echoes the iconic red soles.  The bottle is modeled after the heel of the Ballerina Ultima, the tallest heel Louboutin ever created.

“The red sole was born from red nail polish.  I am giving back to beauty what the shoes took from the nails many years ago.” – Christian Louboutin

givenchy mascara

I’m a huge fan of Givenchy makeup, especially their mascara, so I’m of course dying to try the new Noir Couture Volume Mascara, a volumizing and defining mascara.  The brush has two kinds of bristles, one to plump and one to separate, to create a lush look.  And did you see the bottle?  So chic!

dior fluid 269

I’ve definitely been itching to try the new Dior Addict Fluid Stick, the brand’s new gloss-meets-lipstick formula.  It’s supposed to be incredibly long wearing, but I’ve heard you may want to pair it with a lip liner for easier application as it can be a little tricky in the beginning.  Only problem for me is choosing a color out of the 14 shades they offer.  I’m loving 269 – Tiny Pink (shown above) as well as 575 – Wonderland, and 689 – Vertigo.

Cheers to a great week!

I can never get enough makeup and beauty products (clearly) so once I hear about a new product I’m on the hunt!  Even if I currently love what I’m using, if something new has hit the shelves and it’s supposed to make miracles, I have to try it for myself!  Say the words “limited edition” and I practically have the shakes!  I know, I’m a marketer’s dream.  (Hence why I’m running out of counter and drawer space in my bathroom.) Here are some new products that were worth the purchase, as well as on my radar!

21 Drops, $29: These essential oils are my new go-to to help with ailments or just pick-me-ups!  The rollerballs make it easy to keep with you at home, the office, car, and even purse!  Available at www.21drops.com.

Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet SPF 15 Foundation, $45: New favorite foundation alert!  This matte finish provides velvety smooth skin, helping create a flawless look that lasts all day long!  Available at Neiman Marcus.

Benefit They’re Real! Push-Up Liner, $24:  Run, don’t walk, and buy this liner!  It’s fool-proof and the gel makes it budge-proof, making it the perfect liner to create a precise line every time to open up those eyes!  Available at Sephora.

Julep Plie Wand, $35: Best new way to give yourself a mani!  This ergonomic wand adjusts to your hand to reduce shakiness and smudges.  Available at Sephora.

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl, $25: I’ve always been a fan of these smooth lip pencils, but I recently fell in love all over again when I tried Dragon Girl.  NARS describes this as ‘Siren Red’ and I describe it as the perfect red!  Available at Sephora.

Sigma Beauty, $10-11: Are you a fan of Sigma Beauty makeup brushes like I am?  Well if so, be sure to check out their makeup as well, such as their long-lasting wear eyeshadows and lip glosses.  (And if you have not yet experienced their brushes, get on it!)  Available at www.sigmabeauty.com.

Mason Pearson Brush: The crème de la crème of hairbrushes, this must have hand made brush is designed to stimulate the scalp and deliver just the right amount of grip without snagging your hair!  Available at Sogno Salon of Parkland, 7305 N. State Road 7, (954) 906-5135, www.sognosalonfl.com.

Stay tuned for next month’s article!

Cosmetic Case of the Mondays

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!  Our’s was pretty chill (minus the chill, holy heat!) with errands and fun dinners with friends and babies.  And yes, lots and lots of heat, ick.

I am a huge fan of MAC’s Mineralize Rich Lipsticks as I find them muy moisturizing and I love the colors (faves include Lush Life and Lady at Play) so I was ecstatic to see that they came out with new shades!  As much as I loved the bright hues as well as the nudes, I was immediately drawn to Splurge, a mid-tonal cool plum.  I loved it because it’s a bit of a darker shade, but not overly dark with some apparent pink.  Kind of like a cross between plum and mauve.  I figured it would be the perfect shade for when we start getting a bit closer to Fall.  Be sure to check it out as well as the other Mineralize Rich shades!

Sawgrass Mills Mall: Zinburger Event

I hope you all enjoyed my post last week on my successful Sawgrass Mills Mall shopping spree and don’t forget to comment on Facebook and Instagram about which Summer Travel Essential item of mine you liked best for a chance to win a $100 gift card!  (Remember: Winner must physically pick up the gift card in Sunrise, FL.)  Today I wanted to share with you an event I attended put on by the awesome possum folks at Sawgrass Mills and Zinburger, which just recently opened at the mall.

dvf leopard

Zinburger is a wine & burger bar, with locations in FL, GA, NY, NJ, NC, and VA.  They hosted a Summer Fashion show for some SoFla fashion bloggers (including moi) and offered us a tour of the kitchen, followed by a ridiculous tasting of some of their best selling items. Food and fashion??  Obviously I was ecstatic to attend.  As soon as I arrived (at 10:30, mind you) I was greeted with one of their original cocktails, the Girl Next Door (Smirnoff Vodka, Veev Acai Liqeur, Strawberry).  I was a tad hesitant because I was afraid it would be too sweet for me (that and the fact I felt like I had brushed my teeth 15 minutes prior to drinking vodka), but it was dee-lish!!  Definitely not too sweet and definitely woke me up, hellooo Leah!

ZinBurger Logo_4C

Next was the tour.  I don’t typically tour kitchens of restaurants (shocker), but I was beyond surprised about the cleanliness!  I wish my kitchen looked like that and we only cook for 2 people.  We were getting told all of these interesting facts about how high the quality of meat is, how it’s so fresh it’s kept in a freezing cold room and only in the restaurant for x days, yada yada.  I’m sorry I didn’t remember any of them, I was too busy thinking to myself if now was a good time to inform the chef that I don’t eat red meat and have never once tried a hamburger.

After the tour we sat down for a feast.  Seriously, I should been wearing sweatpants.  Now despite the fact that I was at a burger bar and don’t eat burgers, there was so much for me to eat and the food was exceptional!  I truly didn’t feel like at a national chain restaurant, and one that was reasonably priced at that.  The salads were insane!  We tried the BLT (sans the B for me, which the other bloggers couldn’t stop gushing over), the Farm, and the Seared Ahi.  I couldn’t choose which I liked more, seriously.

zinburger

Everyone else tried three different type of burgers and I believe the general consensus was that the Zinburger was their fav (Manchego Cheese, Zinfandel Braised Onions, Mayo).  I personally loved my Hava Chicken Sandwich (Havarti Cheese, Avocado, Tomato, Mayo).  And then came the fries, holy incredible fries.  We tried Double Truffle Fries, Sweet Potato Fries, and Zucchini Fries.  I was in french fry heaven.  This is typically out of character for me (especially when truffle fries are up for grabs, and they were insane!), but I couldn’t stop eating the Zucchini fries.  They were served with a delicious homemade ranch dressing and none of us could get enough.  The chef admitted they’re a bitch to make, but clearly worth it!

fries

And just when I thought I couldn’t have another bite, the dessert came rolling in, including Chocolate Cream and Banana Cream pies (normally I would shiver just thinking of a banana cream pie but the chef said it was a must try so I went for it and it was so so good!) and shakes.  I love a restaurant that serves yummy shakes and floats and they did just that.  We tried the Bars of Zin (Chocolate Ice Cream, Hazelnut Spread, Kit Kat Pieces) and the Creme Brulee (Vanilla Ice Cream, Madagascar Vanilla Bean, Fresh Cream, Crushed Caramel), and there are many more on the menu including a shake of the month!  This was all washed down with both a glass of Riesling and an amazing Pinot Noir.  Best part about their wine menu?  On Wednesdays, all bottles are 1/2 off!  They also offer a great happy hour, Mon-Fri from 3p-6p.

shakes 2

Oh and as a I sat there shoving all of this food in my face, there was a fashion show to display various items from the mall for us to drool over (in addition to the drool that was probably already running down my face), because isn’t that what you love to do; practically have a Thanksgiving feast while looking at models?  Yea, me too.  (Pass the sarcasm in addition to that ranch dressing.)  I loved seeing what brands were paired together, including some that I would never think to go into like Diesel (I hadn’t been in for ages until post show), and even Tommy Bahama! I was especially loving all of the items from J.Crew (duh), Kate Spade New York, BCBGMaxazria, and it was during the show that I first laid eyes on my ultra luxe and ultra cheap tan travel bag from the Bloomingdale’s Outlet.  (I would have included pics of the ensembles, but I was too busy still eating.)

travel bag

So I’m officially starving while writing this and counting down the days until I eat there again.  Be sure to see if there’s a location near you!  Good news SoFla readers, a Boca Raton location is opening up at the Towncenter Mall shortly, woop woop!

Good luck winning the gift card!!

Fashion Friday: Sawgrass Mills Mall

Happy Fashion Friday everyone! For today’s post I’m teaming up with Sawgrass Mills Mall.  For those of you who aren’t familiar with said mall, it’s the largest outlet and retail shopping destination in the US.  It is the Disney World of outlet malls.  Seriously.  It has over 350 stores and restaurants, as well as, my favorite part, The Colonnade, which consists of luxury-brand shopping stores including 60 exclusive stores found nowhere else in South Florida.  With outlets such as Bloomingdale’s – The Outlet Store, Neiman Marcus Last Call, DVF, Jimmy Choo, Tory Burch, Kate Spade New York, Prada (and more, much more), this isn’t your grandma’s outlet mall. signs bloomies So now you’re wondering what kind of deals you can actually find here, aren’t you?  Well living in South Florida for most my life, I’ve had much experience learning that you can in fact find absolutely ridiculous deals here, but I was ecstatic when the fabulous folks at Sawgrass Mills gifted me with $500 to see what Summer Travel Essentials items I could purchase.  (Don’t get too bitter and jealous that you don’t read on, trust me, you could benefit from it!  {Cough, giveaway, cough})  Umm, can we say most fun challenge ever?!    However, I was almost so excited I felt like I was hoarding the money and didn’t know when to actually pull the trigger and buy something.  I was worried I could black out and spend it in 5 minutes and wake up waiting for my car in valet with a Ben & Jerry’s ice cream cone in hand.  Luckily none of this happened, phew. neimans bare essentials 2 I’d like to point out how organized the stores were!  Typically you think that outlet stores are chaotic and messy, right?  Turning you off for even looking for deals?  Not the case here!  So you want to know what I bought?!  I am now the proud owner of the following items (drumroll please…): Diane Von Furstenberg Arianna Cheetah Print Front Dress dvf leopard Ok, so I’ve been eyeing this dress at all of the big department stores (where it’s still being sold) and oh wait, I find it at the DVF Outlet, score!  This dress is perfect for a cocktail party or throw on a jacket for a business meeting, whatever the occasion is, I absolutely love it!  And I’m a big believer that you can make leopard print appropriate all year round, including Summer!  Best part?  This dress was originally retailed for $398 and I bought it for $179!! J.Crew Factory: Boy Blazer, Short Sleeve Sweater, Neon Pendant Necklace, and Floral Blazer  jcrew Given my past, I was clearly a kid in a candy shop in the J.Crew Factory Store!  I went a little blazer heavy here, but with such low prices, I just couldn’t pass them up!  Plus, what gets you ready for traveling fashionably (even in the Summer), than a blazer for the airport?!  Umm, nothing.  And of course, I can never leave J.Crew without a little sparkle, and the factory store was no exception!  Like what you see? The Navy Boy Blazer and Neon Pendant Necklace is available online now! Bloomingdale’s Tan Travel Bag  travel bag Does this bag not scream travel?  It is so luxe in person that I could have said I purchased this at either the Coach or Salvatore Ferragamo Outlet and blown my entire $500 on it and you would’ve believed me.  Even when I first saw and felt it, I could barely tell that it wasn’t real leather.  And since I paid SO little on it ($47, I repeat, $47) I plan on getting my initials printed on the luggage tag, which I think will pretty much be the cherry on top. bareMinerals Lip Gloss and Mineral Vail makeup Well obviously it wouldn’t be a trip to anywhere for me without getting some makeup!  Did you happen to catch the sign in the picture above from the bareMinerals showing 3 products for $18, mix and match?  I’m pretty sure I saw it from the parking lot, I was so excited!  I snagged the most gorgeous bright pink lipgloss, a Faux Tan Mineral Vail, as well as a Highlighter Mineral Veil.  And just like that, for $18, I’m all set for a summer glow! Ok, so I’ll stop bragging now.  You want to know how you can join in on the shopping?  For all of my South Florida readers, like the Facebook or Instagram post and comment on what Summer Travel Essential of mine I purchased that you like the best and you can win a $100 American Express Simon Gift Card! How fun and easy is that??  Please note: winner has to pick up the gift card in person from the mall in Sunrise, FL. Contest ends next Friday, 8/8, so get to commenting! Good luck, happy shopping, and have a great weekend! Xo, Leah
