Home Furnishings

As much as a relaxing weekend would have been nice, lounging poolside, I spent my Memorial Weekend taking advantage of retail savings and did a bunch of furniture shopping! And even though it’s exciting as purchase new furniture and home decor, it was definitely time consuming and tiring. Also I of course had the trouble of either hating everything I saw or loving it all, regardless of the price tag. Needless to say it was hard to find something I loved enough to buy, but would still allow our child to attend college. Here are some of my favorite pieces I saw while shopping and either purchased or drooled over:

Happy Hump Day! I love that it doesn’t even feel like Wednesday because of the shortened week, already counting down to the weekend! So over the past week I’ve stumbled upon some things (beyond random things) that I’m more than loving and wanted to share the raves with the chance you’d love them as much as I do…

scrub

Jo Malone Body Treatment Scrub: So my good friend Kristen (also preggos – with twins!!) has been telling me to buy this scrub for a couple of months now. As much as I trust her opinion, I was being cheap. $85 for a body scrub?! Well after she kept telling me that the Vitamin E based scrub would do wonders for my ever-so-stretching skin, I finally caved. Hey, at least I’m saving on all of the non-maternity clothes I can’t buy, so I splurged on a skin product (something I never do). Well, I’m now going to mimic Kristen and say if you’re needing a great gift for someone who deserves something amazing that they may not buy for themselves, or if you’re reading this and like me are realizing you’re worth a splurge now and then go out and buy this scrub. Seriously, do it…my skin has never felt so great! Plus it at least is huge and will hopefully last a while.

Mike and Ike’s Lem and Mel: So as you know I have a sweet tooth for candy. Rarely chocolate or rich desserts, but candy, so I’m always scoping out any new treats that hit the shelves. Bad habit, I know, but I at least only eat a little at a time since it’s so sweet. Well I’m thrilled that Mike and Ike’s have brought back retro style Lem and Mel boxes! These originally were available back in 1991 but were then discontinued until late last year and I’m finally able to find them at my local Walgreen’s, as well as online. As you may have guessed, the box only features Lemon and Watermelon flavors. Yum!!

Pop2K: Anyone that has SiriusXM Radio in theirs cars needs to turn the station to Pop2K (Channel 10) asap! A recently new station, it features (you guessed it) pop hits from the millennium’s first decade. We’re talking a little N’Sync, a little Nelly, a little Eminem, and a lot of greatness! So fun to listen to tunes that immediately makes me think of high school or college.

Corn Craze: This past weekend I attended a BBQ at my sister-in-law and her bf’s place with the two families. As soon as dinner was ready to be attacked his brother was serving the corn he had thrown on the grill and asked if I wanted regular or lime and paprika. Say whaaat? Lime and paprika?? Screw the regular, boring, disgustingly bland corn, I’ll most certainly try the one that sounds like it’s bursting with flavor, thank you very much! So the charred corn was literally just covered in lime juice and paprika, not even butter, and I was hooked after my first bite. Changed my corn eating life instantaneously and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to go back. I’m telling you, this is something you need to try at your next BBQ! Or it’s worth gathering anyone with taste buds and having a BBQ just to try it!

Hope you enjoy the (random) tips!

Celebration of Love.

Hi everyone!

So I know I’ve been MIA for a couple days and I certainly hope everyone had a great Memorial Day Weekend, but right now I’m wanting to wish the greatest couple I know a very happy anniversary.

My grandparents are celebrating their 63rd wedding anniversary today and I always hoped to marry a man who loved me as much as my Grandpa loves my Grandma, and I can only hope that Jared and I will be as happy as they are after all those years.  My Grandma Bunny (as I affectionately remind her) is one tough cookie to deal with, but my Grandpa Dick does it with ease – and an occasional Gin & Tonic.  My favorite example?  His proposal to her.  As they were walking in a park in NYC my grandfather asks for my grandmother’s hand in marriage.  Her response?  ”Dick, you have peanut shells in your teeth” and they continued on with their walk.  Luckily, for all of us in the family he was persistent and asked her again at another time and place and she of course agreed.

G&G

Grandma and Grandpa, I love you to the moon and back and am wishing you a Happy Happy Anniversary!  I know you’ll be poppin some champagne this evening, so be sure to have a glass for me.

What it is:  A lightweight plant oil that is valued for its nutritive, cosmetic, and medical uses, and chock full of Vitamin E.  It can be used as a daily moisturizer or treatment for skin, hair, and nails.  It is also known as moroccan oil as argan trees grow almost exclusively in Morocco.

Uses:  You can use argan oil as a moisturizer, treating split ends, softening cuticles, reduce fine lines around your eyes, minimize flyways, and more!

Products:  Josie Maran is the most well known brand for its products containing argan oil including the following:

Josie Maran

Thoughts and Prayers for Oklahoma

Hi everyone,

OK

My heart broke watching the tornado coverage from Oklahoma yesterday, as I’m sure many of yours did as well.  The devastation is beyond comprehension and my thoughts and prayers are with all those affected.  If you’re looking for ways to help the victims in the Midwest, you can donate to the Red Cross Disaster Relief fund here, give blood at a local hospital, or you can text the word REDCROSS to 90999 to donate $10 to the Disaster Relief via text message.

Cosmetic Case of the Mondays

Happy Monday everyone!  I hope you had a fabulous weekend!  We had a nice relaxing weekend filled with furniture shopping as we’ll be purchasing some next weekend when taking advantage of Memorial Day sales, yay!

So as much makeup as I buy (and that’s obvi more than the average bear), there are some things I don’t buy and simply lust over, here’s what I’ve recently purchased and here’s what I’m currently pining for:

Tarte LipSurgence

I recently bought Tarte’s LipSurgence Skintuitive Lip Tint and I’m loving it!  It’s a lip tint that provides a personalized shade of pink with a blend of plant bionutrients, vitamins, and essential oils.  This limited edition (my trigger words!) lip tint combines pure color with natural moisturizers and glides on ridiculously smooth for a sheer finish.  Feel free to bump up the intensity of the color with an extra swipe.  Feels great on my lips!  (Still prefer my go-to Dior Addict Lip Glow but this is a great, less expensive option!)

Dior Hydra Life

Every time I walk into Sephora, I’m tempted to purchase the Dior Hydra Life BB Eye Creme.  This little wonder is a slightly tinted eye cream that targets signs of fatigue, including dark shadows and puffiness.  It moisturizes and smooths dark circles while illuminating and protecting the sensitive eye area.  The creme supposedly instantly refreshes and brightens your eyes and also provides SPF 20 protection.

Cheers to a great week!

Fashion Friday

The denim shirt.  It’s so versatile that it’s become the new jean jacket, the new black cardigan, and the new white tee.  I couldn’t tell you how many different variations of denim/chambray shirts you could find in my closet right now and they all have different looks, feels, and purposes.  You can do a classic wash, white wash, ombre, light weight, etc.  (I feel like I’m starting to look like Bubba from Forrest Gump, you get the idea…)

My favorite way of wearing them these days (or at least pre-belly popping) is over a maxi (worn open as if it was a jacket), with floral skinnies or white cutoffs, or with some classic black leggings.  Pair it with a fun lipstick and some jewelry and you’re good to go!

With Maxi

J.Crew Selvedge Chambray Shirt / Monrow Granite Basic Tank Dress / Tarte Aqualillies 12-Hour Lipstick in Timeless

With Jeans and Shorts

Hive & Honey Emmaline Chambray Popover Blouse / Gap 1969 Printed Legging Skimmer Jeans / Big Star Alex Shorts / J.Crew Color Mix Bracelet

With Leggings

Gap 1969 Chambray Boyfriend Shirt / C&C California Full Length Leggings / Estee Lauder Lipstick in Pink Riot

What’s your favorite way to don a denim shirt??

Have a fab weekend!

Leah
