Oscar Extraordinaire

I apologize ahead of time for not doing a full Oscars fashion recap to go over all of the trends, who looked best, who looked worse than the rest, etc.  I think everyone agrees that there were a lot of great looks, but nothing completely omg, jaw dropping.  A little on the safe side this year.  So rather than focusing on the actual dresses, I just want to discuss J. Law, Best Actress Winner, Miss Jennifer Lawrence.  I’ve been watching her all award season, host SNL, was absolutely blown away by her performance in Silver Linings Playbook, and just when I thought I had seen it all, we all watched her fall…

Jennifer Lawrence

The second she tripped up the stairs, I thought one thing to myself, it couldn’t have happened to a better woman in that room!  (Although I of course would’ve thrown Kristen Stewart in the way to catch Jennifer’s fall, seeing as she already looks miserable with messed up hair, ugh.)  She couldn’t seem more real, funny, down to earth, and in that moment after she picked herself up and delivered her acceptance speech, she never looked more beautiful to me!  So refreshing in Hollywood!

Jennifer Lawrence Fall

And in case you missed it, here is her absolutely hysterical post-award show interview (after her admitted post-shot).

What was your Oscar highlight?  Besides Jennifer, I was blown away by Seth MacFarlane as I think he’s beyond talented and a comedic genius (despite what the critics said), and I’m still dying laughing over the “Sock Puppet Flight” video!

Cosmetic Case of the Mondays: GlamGlow Mud Mask

I hope everyone had a terrific weekend, I know I sure did!  I was so grateful to celebrate the big 2-8 with friends and family  and had a blast doing so!  Thank you everyone for the well wishes, it truly does mean a lot!

So the upside on Saturday was of course my birthday.  The downside was that my skin was definitely NOT ready to celebrate!  I did a chemical peel last week (I unfortunately received a batch of lovely blemishes as an early birthday present), so with that and traveling to cold D.C. last week, my skin was dry and not looking fab.  I ran into my Sephora at Boca Towncenter and the always fabulous Ingrid (she’s seriously am-a-zing) told me not to worry, that the best selling GlamGlow Super-Mud Clearing Treatment mask will clear me up in no time!

GlamGlow

I had heard so many great things about the mud mask, which is a clearing treatment to target, prevent, and heal problem skin, so I was eager to try it out!  She actually applied to me in-store (which if I wasn’t so vain I would share the photo that I took of myself and sent to Jared asking him how perty his wife is, heavy sarcasm there) and I can’t count how many other Sephora makeup artists came up to me saying that it was the best mask they had ever used.  I must say, it made suchhh a difference just after being on my face for under 15 minutes (not to say it left me looking like Miranda Kerr, but it did help my blemishes and dry skin…a birthday miracle!).  You can use it  up to twice a week and I truly think it is worth the money!

Thanks again for the birthday love and special thanks to GlamGlow!

Drybar Products

So I’m currently in D.C. for a work trip and as I hang in my hotel room, naturally I find myself browsing online including Sephora and am excited to see that Drybar now has a line of products and tools (exclusively at Drybars and Sephora)!  If you’re not familiar with the company, it’s a chain of salons that only handle blowouts, no cuts or colors.  Well, as I’m perusing the line, I notice what seems like a familiar face.  Is this Stassi from Vanderpump Rules??  Does anyone even know what I’m talking about??

Drybar

So back to the line, it features “The Sauce”, which are the hair care products, as well as “The Hard Stuff”, the tools!  Unfortunately it’s brand new, so I wasn’t able to check on reviews, however the Money Maker Flexible Hold Hairspray and the 3-Day Bender 1” Barrel Curling Iron, look the most intriguing!  And hey, if it’s good enough for Princess Stassi (or her look-a-like), then it’s good enough for me!

Have you tried the new line of goodies?

Humpday Helper: Snack Attack

Ok, so I’m a snacker.  A huge snacker.  Which is why when I find some new goodies, it truly makes me one happy gal and I want to shout it from the rooftop and share the news.  (I seriously could have been the sixth child in Willy Wonka.)  The best part about my new found treats is that one is sweet and one salty, the perfect pair!

Sweet: The Crispery Crispycakes

The Crispery

Jared and I first discovered these through Dylan’s Candy Bar.  We fell in love with them as they are legit THE BEST rice cripsy treats we’ve ever had, and I usually loathe store bought ones.  After including some in Jared’s V-Day gift basket, we noticed the DCB label coming up and what do ya know?  They were actually The Crispery Crispycake!  Available online, they make the most delish and crazy flavors including Peanut Butter Fluff, Popcorn Drizzled, Pretzel Surprise, S’more, and would make the perfect gift!

Salty: Unique Pretzel Shells

Pretzel Shells

Discovered these when in NYC and after one bite they immediately became my new favorite pretzel snack fo’ sho!  Made by Unique Pretzels, they’ve removed the inside of a pretzel and left the crunchy outside “shell”, aka the best part!  Only downside was that I thought I was going to have to order them from either Unique’s website or Amazon (no big, such is life), but before I could even place an order I found them at my local Fresh Market!  Many thanks to the pretzel gods!

Enjoy!

Brace Yourself!

Lately I’ve been having a serious bracelet addiction, and why wouldn’t I?  You know I love me some candy, why wouldn’t I also love me some arm candy?  Here’s what I’m especially loving these days, some of which I may or may not have already purchased for myself as pre-birthday treats.  Oopsies!

Brace Yourself

J.Crew Square Pave Link Bracelet / J.Crew Tortoise and Brass Link Bracelet /  Henri Bendel Buckle Up Baby Bangle / J.Crew Classic Link Enameled Bracelet / Kate Spade Skinny Mini Bow Bangle / Kate Spade Lady Marmalade Small Bracelet / Kate Spade Black Tie Optional Bracelet

What are you loving?

Fashion Friday: Bumming It

I hope everyone had a terrific Valentine’s Day!  Despite it being an uber cheesy holiday, it’s fun nonetheless!  Since Jared flew in late from Tallahassee last night, we didn’t eat dinner until 10p (a delish meal that I made, if I do say so myself).  There we were, exhausted and stuffed, lounging on the couch before bed and the only thing I was thinking was how I wish I could wear these to work…

Gap Pure Body

Gap Pure Body Terry Ankle Pants.  Heaven.  And 30% off online through Monday with promo code GAPBRIGHT.

And for our red hot nail polish giveaway, our winners are…(drumroll please)… Tara Pugatch Savio and Lori Shee.  Since it was V-Day, I figured to spread the love and choose two winners at random.  Softy.

Happy Friday and President’s Day Weekend!

Xo,

Leah
