Fun in the Sun: Fashion Friday!

Happy Friday kids!  Let’s finish out the week by going over some of my fav fashion finds this season.  With stores already bringing in fall collections, the best part is many of this is probably already on sale!  And one of the best parts of living in SoFla, is that you can pretty much get away with wearing your summer wardrobe all year long!

This season I stocked up on some new bathing suits from Victoria’s Secret.  I get so annoyed paying such high prices for bathing suits these days.  I swear, the prices keep getting bigger while the fabric keeps getting smaller.  I was relieved to score the very flattering Madi Push-Up Bandeau Top and the Side Ruched Low-rise Hipkini bottoms in multiple shades for a pretty reasonable price.

My favorite sandals (1) that I’ve now embarrassingly purchased in three different colors, are Tory Burch’s Emmy thong sandals.  Dress them up or dress them down, they have been quite the summer staple to my feet.

While maxis were of course all the rage this season as they usually are, the one that I wore to death would definitely be my Splendid Maxi Tank Dress (2)  that I scored during Saks’s Friends and Family.  I could literally live in it.

While I’m hoping they’re not just a seasonal trend, I couldn’t get enough of the bright color skinny jeans, as well as the fun patterned skinnies.  Since I know you can only wear neon yellow or tribal print jeans so many times, I was ecstatic when I scored these adorable floral skinnies from American Eagle (which may I add I finally went in after continuing to read that Jessica Alba gets jeans there, despite the fact that I felt like was 15 again).

And finally as if we need an excuse to purchase a new pair of shades, Summer is in fact the best one!  I’m really loving Guiliana Rancic’s Ray Ban’s she was sporting in this season’s Guiliana & Bill, but I’ve yet to track them down.  In the meantime I scooped myself up a pair of these Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Round Sunglasses (3).

Hope you have fun in the sun!

Fun in the Sun: Entertainment

It breaks my heart that this was the first summer without Vince, E, Turtle, Drama, and of course Ari, but to make up for it I have enough Reality TV to watch that before I know it it’ll be fall!  I’m currently tuned in to Bachelor Pad (all the drama and hookups from the regular Bach seasons, but sans the cheese), SYTYCD, Real Housewives of anywhere that’s filming, and I’m semi embarrassed to say, America’s Got Talent…Howard Stern is amazing, period.

Summer is also the time where we get to see all of the highly anticipated blockbuster hits (and misses).  Seeing as my husband, Jared, and I are hardcore movie buffs, we’ll probably end up seeing them all: the good, the bad, and the superheroes.  My personal fav thus far would definitely be Ted.  Mark Wahlberg, thank you for making it up to me a little this summer.  Next year, let’s see that Entourage movie everyone’s been talking about and we’ll be even.

Let me also just say that we have been fortunate enough to get an iPic a couple of months ago in Boca (just in time for the Avengers premiere…Jared was in cinema heaven).  There are only a few in the country, but if you’re anywhere close to one, do yourself a favor and experience watching a movie like you never have before!

My favorite summer read has been White Girl Problems.  If you’re in need of a comedic break from Christian Grey than this is for you! Babe Walker is indescribably amazing, hysterical, horrific, and addicting.  Purchase pronto!  I also just received my copy of Cupcakes and Cashmere from Amazon.  Can’t wait to be incredibly inspired, while also being incredibly envious, sigh.

This summer include one guilty pleasure song after another.  It’s amazing to know that we’ll all remember the summer of 2012 by the lyrics of Justin Bieber, Gotye, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Lana Del Ray.  Oh what our children will think…

Keep it HOT, stay tuned for tomorrow’s sizzling summer post!

Fun in the Sun: Beauty

Today we continue with our all things summer posts and venture into what beauty products I think are HOT.

Since primer is key, especially with heat that you feel could melt your face right off, Loreal Paris Magic Lumi primer is a great product to not only prime your face, but also give it that illuminating glow.  And who doesn’t love a great drug store find?

Don’t forget to also stay safe in the sun with the help of handy sunblock wipes or brush-on powder (Think Tamra on RHOC covering Eddie while in Bora Bora)…they couldn’t make it any easier.

To make sure my paws are ready to go this season, my current “summer red” obsession is Essie’s Too Too Hot (named appropriately, eh?).  If you’re looking for a color that will help make that tan (or faux tan) pop, try something different like Essie’s Mint Candy Apple, Absolutely Shore, or Turquoise & Caicos.  A pale pink/white can always do the trick as well, like Essie’s Angel Food, OPI’s Funny Bunny, or Essie’s infamous Fiji (Emily Maynard is always sporting this color, although I personally can’t wear it…I feel like I look like Edward Chalkhands, #nailenvy).

Be sure to check in tomorrow for the HOT entertainment of the summer!

Fun in the Sun: Makeup

I figured I’d kick start blogging by going over my favorite things about Summer, seeing as we’re fully emerged in the very hot, yet very cool couple of months!

Let us first dive into the most important part of the season: the makeup.

Since I’m borderline addicted to bronzers I of course get giddy when Summer comes upon us as I know all of my favorite brands will be coming out with the latest and greatest collections.  Here are some of the items that I think are muy caliente!

The two bronzers I’m currently loving are Smashbox Bronze Lights and MAC’s Sun Dipped Pro Longwear Bronzing Powder (included in the Hey, Sailor! Collection), both are matte bronzers which I prefer for an all-over color.

Highlighters are the perfect way to achieve that summer glow we all long for during these months.  My current fav is Lorac’s Perfectly Oil-Free Luminizing Powder in Spotlights to especially use around my eyes.

If you’d like a two-in-one that both bronzes and highlights, than Lorac’s TANtalizer Highlighter & Matte Bronzer Duo or Benefit’s 10 may be best for you!

If you can’t get enough of the bronzed look like me (I swear I’m not Snookie, I just have olive skin and when pale I look like I have jaundice again) then you’d love my current obsession, Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Body Bronzer, that’s right, Body Bronzer.

Stay tuned for the next hot summer post…

A First Post About Me

Hello!  My name is Leah Moskowitz and I reside in sunny South Florida.  I’ve worked in Marketing since graduating from Florida State University (go Noles!), but have a passion/borderline obsession with makeup, beauty products, and fashion.  As much as I have an eye for things that far exceed my net worth, I can proudly say that I have a real knack for finding a practical alternative on the cheap as well!  So I’ve decided to jump into the world of blogging (to share my compulsion) and I hope you enjoy reading my posts as much as I enjoy writing them.  I’ve been told since I was little that I write like I talk.  That being said, if you don’t enjoy reading them, odds are you’d hate to have to actually speak with me. Fingers crossed that’s not the case!  And sorry in advance for the novel you’re about to read, I’m clearly a talker…

I saw this quote one day and it made me chuckle:

“To know me is to love me.  If you love me, stop hating on me.  If you hate me, you don’t know me.”

To know me (and thus hopefully love me), I’ve listed some things about myself so you get a better sense of  who you’re dealing with:

Don’t take me (or yourself) too seriously.  Sephora is my Holy Land.  I anxiously await my People Style Watch to be delivered to me like it’s Christmas morning, except I’m Jewish.  Three things you can almost guarantee to find in any of my purses at any point in time: an array of lipsticks, glosses and balms (we’re talking multiple shades of pinks, reds, nudes, and corals), bobby pins, and an assortment of candy.  I spend WAY too much time putting on makeup (to the point where I lay in bed in the morning contemplating if I should hit snooze two more times or apply eye makeup that day).  I just don’t know how to go any faster, but I remind myself that the first step is admitting you have a problem.  My friends call me their Phone-a-Friend as I know way too much about nothing.  It just hit me that some of the younger folk out there don’t even know what I’m referring to when I say “Phone-a-Friend”, reality of being in my late 20s is slowly sinking in, sigh.  I’m a firm believer that there are two types of girls: ones that dress for guys and ones that dress for girls, proud to say I’m of the latter.  I’m the queen of quotes and refer to movies and TV shows 24/7.  My husband is in politics so often times I do my best to try and channel my inner Jackie O and Kate Middleton, which I’m sure I fail miserably at.  I’m cheap about things that should be cheap, for example you’ll never see me posting about “an amazing layering tee for $200 that you just have to buy”…that’s what Target and Forever are for.  I’m a mascara and bronzer junkie.  If Guiliana Rancic and I met, I’m certain we’d be best friends instantaneously.  I can be a bit particular if you will (other words give off a negative connotation), but I just know what I like…think Meg Ryan’s ordering in When Harry Met Sally.  I have a ridiculous nail polish collection and know all of their names by heart and expect others to know too when I ask them what they’re wearing.  I’m fully aware that I spend way too much time picking out my clothes, only to change 5 times after, and then regret my final decision as soon as my husband pulls out of the driveway.  But then again I’m a woman and convinced that our surplus X chromosome stands for eX-nay, where are as the men’s Y stands for Y are you torturing me, every pair of black shoes you’ve shown me look the same.  It’s not our fault, it’s science.

Stats/vitals: 27 yrs young, 5’4’’, Dry olive skin, Dark Brown hair and eyes, and known to have the worst luck ever.

Likes:  Buying friends gifts.  Receiving gifts from friends.  When Dunkin makes my iced coffee just right.  Sleeping when it’s raining outside.  My maltipoo Fozzie (yes, named after the Muppets).  My eyelashes, they’re my favorite thing about my body (don’t take this as sounding cocky…realize how pathetic it is that I think my eyelashes are the best things going for me and let me have it). Sparkling water.  Laughing and attempting to make others laugh.  When I succeed at making people laugh.  The Miami Heat.  My husband Jared for putting up with my quirks, habits, and shopping addiction and  for believing in me.  When people read my blog.

Dislikes: Getting caught in the rain wearing jeans.  Messing up a mani or pedi right after getting them done.  People who don’t smile.  Soggy foods, seriously.  When Dunkin totally screws up my iced coffee.  A melted lip balm.  Tonic water.  That I’m allergic to pineapples and can never have a Pina Colada.  Clumpy eyelashes, aka spider eyes.  Wearing an outfit you love and not seeing anyone, only to see everyone when you’re wearing something awful waffle.  When people don’t read my blog.
