Benefit-errific!

Hi everyone!

As I feel like I keep saying each and every time I post lately, sorry for being so sporadic!  While I’m sure it’s not keeping you up at night, it’s been bothering me and I just wish I could find more energy to blog in the evenings once Samuel’s asleep.  Either that or I wish the kid would take consistent naps!  Moving on…

benebalm

So it’s no secret that I love Benefit Cosmetics!  Their line could consist of just their cult classic They’re Real mascara and I would still be a fan, not to mention their highlighters, box powders, and tints.  Plus don’t even get me started on their packaging and marketing!  Witty cosmetics…yes, please!  Well, the brand is at it again and have just come out with four brand new tinted lip balms.  I’m a sucker for any balm as I have insanely dry lips that I’m of course always complaining about, and a balm that’s tinted is even better!  While these balms are indeed tinted they are pretty sheer so don’t expect tons of color, but that’s the beauty of them as they’re intended to be…wait for it, wait for it…worn over their bestselling tints!  That’s right, Benefit made each of the colors (Benebalm, Posiebalm, Cha Cha Balm, and Lollibalm) to go over each of their corresponding tints to keep lips hydrated and for soft enduring color.

benefit blams and tints

They can also of course be worn alone or over any other lipstick, but for someone who loves a good tint but hate the way it dries out my lips these puppies are perfect!  I can’t wait to especially try Benebalm (rose) and Lollibalm (candy orchid).

Lastly, since I’m in love with their packaging as mentioned above, I swooned when I saw that Benefit teamed up with LeSportsac and came out with the absolute cutest line of cosmetic bags.  They would make great gifts, filled with Benefit goodies!

Talk to you soon!  (Hope not sporadically!…Thank you to those who know what I’m referencing.)

Cosmetic Case of the Mondays

Hi everyone!

Sorry for going M.I.A. for a little, so much going on!  Let’s see…so there was Mother’s Day yesterday which was so great, and so surreal to be on the receiving end for the first time in my life!  Then there’s been the NBA playoffs, the RHOA Reunions, Samuel graduated from his Kindermusik class, I cut bangs, oh and I had my first beauty column printed in a South Florida magazine, hey hey!

LLL Column

In the column I go over my “if I was stranded on a deserted island, which beauty and makeup products I’d want with me” list.  Here are my top picks, plus a couple extra that we ended up editing down.

Revlon PhotoReady Airbrush Mousse Foundation $10-12: Out of all of the expensive foundations I’ve tried, this is still my fav!

MAC Russian Red Lipstick $16: My go-to red lip that not only transforms my outfit, but also my attitude!

Essie Marshmallow Nail Polish $5-8: No matter the season, three coats of this polish on hands and toes and I’m good to go!

Dior Addict Lip Glow $32: When I want a balm with also a little color – it pulls your natural lip color!

Benefit They’re Real! Mascara $23: I’m a mascara junkie so while I use many different kinds, I always love the drama this gives while keeping my lashes separate!

Dior Diorshow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum $28.50: This is primer for your lashes that helps lengthen and condition and I wouldn’t dare apply my mascara without it!

Sephora Collection Pro Airbrush #55 Brush $34: The best brush to apply foundation with and buff it in for a smooth and even complexion.

Roden + Fields Skin Care $130+: The creators of Proactiv are changing the face of skin care again with their anti-aging and sun damage skin care line.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Magic Marc’er Precision Pen Liquid Eye Liner $30: I’ve yet to use a liquid liner that is blacker and goes on smoother, so luxe!

Too Faced Sun Bunny Natural Bronzer $30: While I prefer a matte bronzer to apply all over my face, a touch of this bronzer on your T-Zone makes you look like you just came back from vaca!

Givenchy Mister Light Instant Light Corrective Pen $34: The combo of under-eye concealer and highlighter makes this the perfect one-step product to transform those tired eyes!

Stay tuned for June’s column next month and a big thanks to the Lifestyle Media Group for making me feel like a mini SJP once a month (not really, but whatevs)!

Fashion Friday

Happy Friday!

Can we please take a minute and discuss my latest obsession?  Jogger/track pants. These comfy bottoms are now a staple in my wardrobe and I truly can’t get enough of them.  Whether they’re solid or a funky print, these are my new go-to pants as I love anything that can be both worn to while running errands as well as to a nice dinner.  Pair them with a comfy tee, a silk tank, flats, chunky heels, anything goes with them!

pattern joggers

J.Crew Drawstring Pant in Cove Floral (obsessed with this print) / Charlie Jade Printed Drawstring Easy Pants (on sale now!)

solid joggers

Sabine Soft Pant (great deal and they look heavenly) / Forever 21 Woven Drawstring Joggers (umm they’re $11.80, how can you go wrong?!)

Which are your fav??

Cheers to a great (and comfy) weekend!

Humpday Helper

With Jared away, I have a horrible habit of not going to bed until way past my bedtime which means just one thing: I watch a lot of TV.  Like a lot.  Like I watch shows, then I watch reunions of shows, and then I watch the “after the reunion” shows.  And just in case you’re not as much of a TV junkie as I am (or reality TV junkie I should say), here are some shows that you should get to watchin!

tv

True Tori:  So Tori Spelling agreed to let a film crew follow her around while she deals with the aftermath of her husband cheating on her.  There are some reports saying that not only is the show completely fake, but that the whole scandal was fake as well just as a ploy to get the show and make some money.  After now watching the first two uber intense and dramatic episodes, I feel as though it is my life mission to find out if True Tori is in fact true.

Southern Charm: This new Bravo show actually just ended and while it was pretty uneventful and followed what seemed like just one story throughout the season, do yourself a favor and watch them On Demand just to catch the finale.  A bomb dropped in Charleston in the last 30 seconds of the show.  Did not see that one coming!!  And then obvi there’s the reunion to catch afterwards as well…

Real Housewives of Atlanta:  Speaking of Bravo reunions, this season of RHOA brought some dra-ma!  Oh em gee are these ladies cray cray, although now having watched parts one and two from the three part reunion (side note: the way Andy Cohen can milk a couple hour long sit down is truly a talent) the craziest one of them all may be Mama Joyce.  Hope she doesn’t drag me out in the street for saying that…

Mixology:  Ok, so finally a sitcom and not a reality show.  From the writers of The Hangover and is co-produced by Seacrest (although what isn’t produced by him these days), it’s about 10 singles, 5 guys and 5 girls, searching for love in a bar over the course of one night.  It’s like 24 meets every show about single friends looking for love, but the writing and acting is actually pretty good.  Definitely check it out, I’ve laughed out loud by myself many a times.

And in case you haven’t checked out the now-viral video of Emma Stone crushing it on Jimmy Fallon during a lip-sync battle, definitely watch it asap!  It confirms my love for her (um hello, she likes DJ Khaled…we’d clearly be friends for this and many other reasons) and I’m also obsessed with her look during the show, head to toe, and also really makes me wish I was cool enough to pull off those bangs.  Speaking of which I actually have a long overdue haircut today, but too worried I’ll have buyers remorse and then wait for what seems like forever for them to grow out, sigh.  Anywho…

Happy viewing!

On the Run

Umm, so this is happening…

jay-z-beyonce-tour

Have you stopped hyperventilating yet?!  When you have, check out the list of 16 cities that Jay and Bey will be touring to…first on the list is Miami, hey hey!  Ok, now go back to freaking out and wondering how Beyonce even makes a ski mask sexy.

Cosmetic Case of the Mondays

I hope everyone had a terrific weekend!  Jared was home for a quick visit before heading back to Tallahassee for the last week of session, yay!  We spent our time with friends and family and it was full of food, laughter, basketball, babies, and pool time.

So even though I’m a lover of makeup (obvi), now that I’m a walking Groundhog Day, running around taking care of Samuel and doing laundry every 5 minutes, I tend not to spend as much time getting ready in the mornings as I used to.  Luckily, almost-7-month-olds don’t judge…I at least hope not.  I love a quick and easy pop of color with my makeup, pulling off the minimal look of everything else, so I’m loving the fact that the Pantone Color of the Year is Radiant Orchid.  This is the year to go out of your comfort zone and try the bold and daring look!  Here are my current fav products featuring the ‘It’ fuchsia color.

Benefit Lollitint / Sephora + Pantone Universe Radiant Orchid Lipstick / Clinique Cheek Pop Blush Plum Pop / Clinique Chubby Stick Pudgy Peony / Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm 110 Coquette / Maybelline Vivids Lipcolor Hot Plum

Tip: If you want to just dip your feet in before jumping into the orchid craze, try a product that’s more sheer like the Chubby Stick, Revlon Balm, or Clinique Cheek Pop) so you can build the color to your liking.

Viktor&Rolf BONBON

New ridiculously amazing perfume alert!!

When shopping in Saks for their Friends & Family event (check my top picks from yesterday!), be sure to stop and smell the new perfume by Viktor&Rolf.  Their new scent, BONBON, is currently exclusive at Saks (you read that right) and has captured my nostrils as well as my heart.  I’m a huge fan of Viktor&Rolf as I will always keep a bottle of Flowerbomb on my vanity and this new fragrance surely doesn’t disappoint!  After testing it out while shopping last week I continuously caught myself sniffing my wrist, with its sweet scent almost edible.  Oh wait, did I mention the bottle is a bow shape?!  As if that alone isn’t reason to purchase…

bonbon

So while it’s not included in the F&F promotion and is a bit pricey, I’d like to point out that there’s less than 3 weeks until Mother’s Day so either add it to your shopping list or wish list as this would be the most perfect gift!

Speaking of amazing perfumes by Viktor&Rolf, I want to also point out that the just reinvented Flowerbomb to celebrate its fifth anniversary: Flowerbomb La Vie en Rose.  It’s a limited-edition fresher, lighter version of the iconic fragrance.  And again, they’ve outdone themselves with the bottle!
