Fashion Friday

Ok, so I know I promised not to starting blogging about just maternity items or preggo issues, but OH EM GEE!!  Huge news!  I almost fell over when I was looking through J.Crew’s new line that came out on Thursday for Fall and it included preggo pants.  I repeat, J.Crew made maternity pants!!

After I practically had to regain consciousness, I saw that they made maternity versions of two of their already popular pants.  See!  This post is actually for everyone, not just those expecting!  Available for pre-order are the Minnie pants, which are available in Black, Navy, and Pinot Noir (pictured below).  I’m obsesseddd with this color for Fall!  How gorg?!  Wondering what size to get in the maternity version?  Whatever size you’d wear in the non-maternity Minnie.  Easy peasy!

The other style now available in maternity sizes is the Pixie pant.  Available in Short, Regular, or Tall and they come in Heather Charcoal, Navy, and Black.  Like the original, they’re sleek and structured due to their figure-flattering heavyweight stretch ponte fabric. These are designed to wear up until the big day and even afterwards!  They can be dressed up with heels, down with flats and loafers, and perfect for boots in the Fall and Winter.  I’ve already ordered these in Black and am banking on them being my new go-to pants, fingers crossed!  I’ll be sure to keep everyone posted on the fit!

Yay for the new J.Crew collection and preggo pants!

Are you on the hunt for a universal blush?  How about a universal lip color?  While I’m the fool that continues to buy every hue of every shade in both blushes and lipsticks, I know the average bear wants to just have one color that will go with everything.

For a great blush that can look good with most other makeup shades and skin colors, I always turn to MAC’s Pinch Me.  Whenever I recommend this medium/dirty rose coral blush to someone, lo and behold they always loves it!

If you’re on the hunt for a lip color that will go with just about everything, I would definitely suggest trying out MAC’s Peach Blossom Lipstick.  Once again, no matter who I suggest this nude-meets peach-with-a-touch-of-pink shade to, it always looks great on them!  It can also be paired with multiple different glosses to transform it into different looks.

Not that I’m getting paid by MAC (ha, I wish!) but I think it looks great with Pinkarat Lustreglass (pink with a touch of gold), Loud & Lovely Cremesheen Glass (don’t be scared, it’s actually a pretty sheer pink that you can build up), and Paper Lantern Cremesheen Glass (a soft, semi frosted pink) lip glosses.

Cosmetic Case of the Mondays

I hope everyone had an amazing weekend!  Jared and I took a quick trip up north for a wedding in Jersey, but first made a quick 24 hour stop in NYC.  It was a fast getaway, but we sure had a good time with good friends and good food.  For the wedding on Saturday I went to get my makeup done with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law, as I of course always love an excuse to get dolled up.

After a visit at the makeup counter in Saks I was reminded that just because a beauty product has a high price tag, doesn’t mean it’s worth the money.  As soon as we returned to the hotel I took a face wipe and sadly removed the face makeup and started from scratch as I was longing for better coverage.  Low and behold my drugstore Revlon PhotoReady Airbrush Mousse Foundation and Revlon PhotoReady Powder did the trick!  I sealed the deal with Too Faced Endless Summer 16 Hour Long-Wear Bronzer, Too Faced Sun Bunny Natural Bronzer to highlight my cheekbones, Givenchy Mister Light underneath my eyes, and MAC Blush Pinch Me on my cheeks.

Moisturizer Madness

So I have dry skin. Like really dry skin. Like I may be part iguana.  Because of this, I try my best to stay moisturized as best as possible.  Here are my favorite items to keep my skin not feeling like that of a lizard.

Moisturizer

Face moisturizer: I love a good facial moisturizer, but hate spending what could be a gazillion dollars.  My favorite, used twice daily of course, is La Roche-Posay Hydraphase Intense.

Body Lotion: I have to say I have a new fav body lotion that I just tried, Vaseline Spray and Go Cocoa Radiant Body Moisturizer.  I love that it’s a spray, I love that it dries immediately, and I love the smell of Cocoa Butter.

Lip Balm: Picking a favorite lip balm would be like Brangelina choosing their favorite kid out of the pack (although I’m sure it’s Maddox), but when I want to truly moisturize my lips I reach for my Nivea A Kiss of Moisture Lip Care.

Hand Cream: I probably use hand cream more than the average bear, I love keeping L’Occitane 1 oz Dry Skin Hand Cream in my purse since it’s such a great size and Bliss 2.5 oz High Intensity Hand Cream at my desk at work, and finally Ahava Mineral Hand Cream at home before bed.

Stay moisturized!

With a heat wave going through the country, I’m sure we’re all looking for ways to cool down.  Well the amazing folks over at Buzzfeed compiled 23 Genius Ways To Use An Ice Cube Tray, which I think is pretty damn genius as well.

Here were some of my fav ideas out of the 23 to help cool off!

Make chocolate-covered strawberries, directions here.  As women we’re always claiming Valentine’s Day should be everyday, well why not in July?!

Make jello shots.  I tend to be a bit grossed out by anything with jello, so I don’t know if it’s just the fact that I haven’t had a cocktail in 6 months but these Blueberry Martini Jello Shots sound too good not to try!

Make chocolate ice cubes and add them to vanilla (or regular) milk.  I typically am not a milk drinker, but this looks like the most delish way to cool down AND to get calcium.  Recipe here.

Make ice cubes from leftover wine.  Not sure why and when you’d have leftover wine, but if and when you do, how perfect for a batch of sangria?

How cool were those??

Cosmetic Case of the Mondays

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!

There are a couple of new mascaras on the market which the thought alone practically makes me foam at the mouth.  I haven’t purchased any of them yet but I started checking them each out, comparing them all to help decide which to buy, if any.  Here’s the breakdown:

better than sex

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara: An intense black, volumizing mascara with an hourglass-shaped brush, inspired by the curves of a woman’s body, that separates, coats, and curls each lash to voluptuous perfection, $23.

3d black lash

MAC In Extreme Dimension 3D Black Lash: MAC’s lightweight whipped formula now comes in an intense blacker than black color that saturates lashes from root to tip.  It adds volume, extends length, and creates curl, while conditioning for softness and flexibility, $20.

falsies

Maybelline Volum’ Express Falsies Big Eyes Mascara: Supposedly offers 3 times more visible lashes and 8 times more volume without clumping.  Dual end wands for both top and bottom lashes, ranges from approximately $7-10.

Decisions, decisions!

Cheers to a great week!

Fashion Friday

We made it!  Happy Friday folks!

So since I’ve already started semi-waddling, I’ve been taking a break from wearing heels (don’t know how KK did it all throughout her pregnancy, but then again I don’t care because she looked like idiot), I’ve currently fallen head over flats for these puppies:

Valentino Rockstud Patent Leather Ballet Flats

I’m convinced they will go with anything and that they’re the perfect mix of chic and edgy.  Now I just have to start saving!  And maybe, just maybe I’ll even let myself try them on this weekend!

And because I will of course venture back into heels soon enough, I already have my eyes set on the post-preg matching pumps:

Valentino Rockstud Studded-Heel Pump

How absolutely freaking stunning?  Drool.  A girl can dream, sigh.

Have a great weekend!

Leah
