Random Thoughts by Leah

So unfortunately I had nothing truly noteworthy to blog about today seeing as I’m still exhausted from the Beyonce concert I attended on Tuesday (well worth it though, thanks Mrs. Carter!).  This pregnancy thing doesn’t let me hang like I used to.  And work is totes getting in the way of catching up on sleep.  Annoying.  Well despite me coming up with an awesome topic of today’s post, I figured I’d share some random thoughts with you guys today.  Hell, I have a blog, why not?

Honey Boo Boo

-I saw a commercial last night for the new season of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.  As if the mere fact that the show is back for another season wasn’t enough, the commercial was advertising an interactive Watch ‘N’ Sniff episode, where you can obtain a card from People mag to scratch and sniff to smell what the Thompson Family is smelling in the season premiere.  Why in hell would I ever want to smell anything that involves them??

-Guy who sits in front of me at work, it really isn’t necessary to point out how much I eat during the day and say comments like “Omg, she’s at it again!”.  I’m fully aware of how gross I’m being, but thanks.

-Miley Cyrus you’re beginning to scare me.  I got through 30 seconds of your new music video for We can’t Stop and I felt like I was on whatever Amanda Bynes is on.  Although, I highly recommend watching the dog parody video (by Malty Cyrus lol) instead.

-It’s Free Slurpee Day today at 7-Evelen’s.  Because it’s 7/11, get it?  You’re welcome.

Humpday Helper

I love a good pick-me-up to help get me through the day and work week, and while some may get inspiration though quotes and photos they see online that encourage us to smile, not judge people, yada yada a true pick-me-up for myself is something that makes me laugh.  (Bare with me, I’m on decaf coffee and haven’t had a cocktail in almost 6 months…relax Mom and Grandma reading this, no I am not an addict.)

Perfect Polly Pet

Well I just about peed myself when a co-worker of mine sent me this commercial to watch for the Perfect Polly Pet.  I was stunned to discover this shit is REAL!!  If this doesn’t get you through the day, then I’m at a loss.

The only thing left to figure out after feasting your eyes on the ad is who to buy said product for and for what occasion?!  The possibilities are endless!

Happy Hump Day!

Cosmetic Case of the Mondays

I hope everyone had an amazing 4th of July weekend!  Jared and I had such a fabulous time in Turks & Caicos and were so sad to leave!  Here are some cosmetics that I was so happy I had with me for the vacay, as well as products I wish I had.

Glad I Packed

bright lips

Bright Lips: Since I attempted to sport less makeup than usual while away, I always love sporting a bright lip to transform a simple look into a more fun, less plain jane look.  I was so happy that I had recently purchased MAC Impassioned Lipstick, as well as MAC Flashmode Lustreglass lip gloss.  Great combo!

neutrogena

Face SPF: While being preggers I feel more of an urgency to protect my skin from the sun so before we left I wanted to make sure I picked up a good sunscreen for my face that wouldn’t clog my pores or make me break out (as well as break the bank).  Well I can safely say I loved the Neutrogena Clear Face Liquid-Lotion Sunblock (available in SPF 30 and 55 fyi) and was so happy that it didn’t feel heavy on my skin and kept me safe from the sun’s rays!

Wish I Had Packed

BB & Tinted Moisturizer

BB Cream/Tinted Moisturizer: When getting ready to head down to the beach, I always battle between not wanting to put makeup on and having my face commando, risking everyone to run away in fright (especially this trip since I knew I was already probably scaring people away with my larger than life belly button).  Like an idiot, I forgot to bring any BB Cream or Tinted Moisturizer (thanks to preggo brain).  I would have loved to have tried MAC’s new Prep + Prime BB Beauty Balm SPF 35 or Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 – Illuminating.  Coulda, woulda, shoulda.  Next time.

top coat

Top Coat: I made sure to get my nails and toesies done before our trip (Essie Moonstruck on my nails and Essie Turquoise and Caicos on my toes…how could I not?!), but because of all of the sand my toes lost all of their shine after the first day at the beach.  I always bring the polish that’s on my nails in case of major chips, but I didn’t bring any of my fav top coats (nails inc. Kensington Caviar Top Coat and Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Anti Chip Top Coat) with me which would have been nice to touch up.  C’est la vie.

Cheers to a great week!

Fashion Friday

Happy Fashion Friday!

I hope everyone had a spectacular 4th of July yesterday and continue to have a great weekend!  (For those of you who are unfortunately working today, keep your eye on the prize!)

We’re currently in Turks & Caicos and when preparing for the trip I was faced with the dreaded task of bathing suit shopping, groan.  What’s worse is now that I’m nowhere near the size I used to be, this wasn’t even an option (unless I wanted my bikini tops fitting like nipple covers) and thus I was forced to buy some new suits and coverups.  I was thrilled when I scored such a cute and colorful coverup from Old Navy that I just had to share!  While I was at is, I also found two gorgeous suits that match and all for the Old Navy prices we’ve come to know and love.

Old Navy Swim

Printed Chiffon CaftanTiered-Ruffle Bikini Top & Bottom / Underwire String-Bikini Top & Bikini Bottom

Can you believe that such chic pieces total to only $88?!  Snag it all up and you’re good to go for a weekend getaway!

4th of July Fab!

Happy 4th of July kids!

I hope everyone’s going to enjoy their day laying poolside, enjoy some delish bbq, sip some summer cocktails, light some sparklers, or whatever it is you fancy on the 4th!  Jared and I are actually leaving today for our Babymoon to Turks & Caicos, couldn’t be more excited to eat, sip my mocktails, and take advantage of a prenatal massage…my how things have changed, sighed.

Here are some of my beauty picks to help celebrate the holiday weekend while looking fab!

4th of July

MAC Deep Truth Eyeshadow / MAC Lipstick Russian Red / Essie Moonstruck (an oldie but goodie!) / Clinique Intense Midnight Quickliner / Essie Too Too Hot / Diorshow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum

Have a fun and safe celebration!

Humpday Helper

So who doesn’t love a great top coat nail polish?  One that dries quickly and has amazing shine?  I know I sure do!  I got so giddy when I saw that one of my favorite polish brands, nails inc., came out with a new Kensington Caviar Gel Effect Plumping Top Coat.  Woah woah woah, on top of a quick dry and high shine, I can also have a gel effect??  Too much, I obvi had to purchase!

gel effect

Well I brought it to the salon to use on top of one of my fav new bright colors, Hip-Anema, and my manicurist couldn’t get over the shine that this little topper provided!  And sure enough, it dried quickly!  Now’s that 2 for 3…could we get all 3 goals that we set out to?  Well, I’ll have you know that I had multiple friends ask me what color I was wearing because they thought I was wearing a gel polish!  We’ve got a turkey ladies and gents (or a hat-trick for the hockey lover!) and have achieved all 3!  The ultimate top coat!

Try it out and let me know if it helps your mani!
