Out With The Old, In With The New!

Now that it’s a new year, take the opportunity and replace some items that you’ve been meaning to replace.  This could include nail polish (over 6 months old), unused mascara (2-3 months old), and any melted lipstick tubes.  I chose to purchase a new blow dryer for myself since my current one is on the fritz.

As I blogged about a while back when needing a new flat iron, the absolute best place to purchase hair tools and other hair accessories from in my opinion is folica.com.  They have a great selection, unbeatable prices (with almost always offering some promo code discount), as well as the BEST customer service.  I took advantage of a 25% promo code that they were offering last week and I finally bought myself the Sedu Revolution Pro Tourmaline Ionic 4000i Hair Dryer.  It has received 4.5 out of 5 stars with 983 reviews (the most reviews out of any other dryer on the website)!  So in my case I guess it’s out with the old, in with the Sedu! (Do you like the play on words I just did there?  Yea, I thought you would.)

For the record I am now unofficially a Sedu Specialist seeing as I already use the Revolution Tourmaline Ionic Styling Flat Iron as well as the Revolution Clipless Curling Iron.  Love them both!  Hopefully this blow dryer is a step closer to great hair in 2013!  (Fun fact, all three were Best of Folica winners, I’m clearly not the only one who’s a fan!)

What will you do to help your beauty regimen for the new year?

Humpday Helper: Resolution Remix

Happy 2013 kids!

I hope everyone had a great time ringing in the new year!  I had a terrific NYE celebrating with some of our closest friends, including Ali and Niki from Papery and Cakery as well as my amazing web designer Colin Johnson!  I also had a great time getting ready for the evening with the help of the ridiculously talented Dominique from Blow & Go and Ina from MAC at Bloomingdales in Boca.

2012 was a very a busy year that brought us many things to be grateful for including Jar and I celebrating our one year wedding anniversary, Jared getting elected into the Florida House of Representatives, and yours truly launching Live Love Lipstick!  Woop woop!

So on to the resolutions, right?  Just like many others, I swear I have the same stupid resolutions each year: stop cracking my knuckles (I now have horribly huge knuckles from years of the stupid habit), stop picking my lip (which has to be the grossest habit ever, I know), stop picking my split ends, and start working out more or doing some form of physical exercise (besides laps around the mall).  So I figured besides just convincing myself that this year will be the year to accomplish my goals, I’ll come up with some new ones; the Live Love Lipstick Resolutions of 2013 – Remixxx!!

1. Start reading more…any recommendations?

2. Don’t leave my nail polish on for too long, since it dries out my nails more.  And when I do remove it, make sure to apply base coat stat.

3. Apply eye cream every night, along with nightly moisturizer.  Getting old and there’s no getting around it.

4. To look at the glass half full.  Let’s just make it a martini glass though.

5. Bust out the lip balm the second I have the urge to pick my lip.  Will.break.this.habit.

6. Do my best to be a good granddaughter, daughter, daughter-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, mom (to Fozzie Bear), wife, and friend that I can be.  Whew, pressure is on.

7. Take risks and don’t be afraid to fail.  Even if this just means testing out a new look or lipstick shade, gotta try to be more daring.

8. Continue to plan girl nights with my girlfriends.  I love love love them.

9.  Learn to cook new dishes.  Signing up for classes at Sur La Table, wish me luck!

10. Attempt to entertain and inform my readers.  And hopefully succeed at this.

Here’s to 2013 and new resolutions!  Thank you all for reading, following, and supporting LLL, it means the world to me!

Fashion Friday: Bitch Stole My Look

You know it’s happened to you before.  It happened to me last night with my friend Lara.  And yet we actually drove together to an event dressed like this.  Don’t get mad, embrace it.  (Unless of course your friends vote for the other girl in Who Wore it Best?…kidding.)

Humpday Helper: Things to look forward to!

Hi everyone!

I hope everyone has had a terrific holiday as well as holiday break.  Jared and I had a great time in NYC for a nice long weekend visiting with some of our best friends and spending time with my mom and grandparents.

However today we’re back to reality, sigh.  No more festive celebrations, no more cookie and gift exchanges, and no more 25 Days of Christmas on ABC Family.  I unfortunately don’t have much of a helpful tip today, a. I’ve slacked on my blogging while on vaca, oops! and b. I’m not gonna lie, I love the holidays and the realization that they’re over sucks.  I’ll just try to look forward to some other things:

-Finally seeing Les Miserables. Can’t.wait.

-NYE is five days away.  You know what that means, fun sparkly dresses are just around the corner.

-So many clothes, shoes, and beauty sets that weren’t sold will now be on sale, yay!

-Continuing to eat all of the limited edition holiday treats.  We’ll let the pilates/healthy eating start up again in 2013, enjoy for now.

And many, many more.  Keep your chin up, or at least try to with me!

Holiday Favor

I hope everyone is having an amazing time celebrating the holidays with friends and family!  Jared and I are currently in NYC and doing just that!

Since the holidays are all about family, love, and giving back, I am asking my amazing readers to do me a favor, please take a minute of your time and go to this link to sign a petition that will help make the rescuing of my friend’s father, Robert Levinson, who has been help hostage in the Middle East since 2007, a top priority.

The petition needs 25,000 signatures by January 20th for the White House to publicly acknowledge and respond to it, and this wonderful family needs your help.  Please sign and share with all of your friends.

For more information on this husband, father of seven, and grandfather of two, please visit www.helpboblevinson.com.

Thank so much is advance!

Rue La La, Ooh La La!

I’ve been known to do some online shopping damage – who could resist?  No parking, no lines, although no Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, hmm…but anywho, lately I’ve been scoring some amazing finds on Ruelala.com.

For those who aren’t familiar with this gem of a website, it’s a member only site that is made up of boutiques filled with coveted brands that go on sale each day at 11am EST and stay open for 48 hours.  It’s a great place to find items in a number of categories – Women, Men, Home, Kids, Travel, and more for killer prices!

Now don’t be scared about the Members Only, you don’t have to pass a test or learn a secret handshake, just sign up.  Beauty is, you can invite any friends who aren’t members yet and you’ll receive $10 for when they place their first order.  Cha-ching!

Now I know online shopping can sometimes be a drag because of the shipping fees (especially if you purchase often…who, me?) however I love that they started the Rue 30, which means you only have to pay $9.95 for one order and then you have free shipping for the next 30 days!  (Huge competitive advantage to comparable sites in my opinion.)  About a month ago they also came out with the Rue 365, which offers free shipping for a whole year for $100, that’s right, a YEAR.  You may be thinking that’s still a bit pricey, however they’ll also throw in two $50 gift cards to some of your favorite stores such as Bloomies and Tory Burch.  Rue-markable!

I can honestly say they also have terrific customer service, or as they call is Rue Concierge, and I’ve personally dealt with them on a couple of occasions.  Things happen, I get that, but they jump on the issue and do everything they can to rectify the situation.  I even received Rue La La cookies once as a way to apologize that an order took so long, I don’t even get “I’m sorry” cookies from Jared!  I also love that they inform you when brands that you’ve searched or purchased in the past are back on their site.

And finally, just to show you that I’m walking the walk and this post, err…Rue Report, isn’t just rubbish, above are some of my fav recent purchases from Rue that I’ve also managed to save hundreds on! (Unfortunately not available on Rue anymore: Alice + Olivia “Karina” Dress. YSL Belle Du Jour Patent Leather WalletGlass Pedestal Beverage DispenserPour La Victoire “Ilena” Leather T-Strap Sandal.)

What’s In My Bag?

So one of my favorite features in an US Weekly magazine is the “What’s In My Bag?” segment, so I decided to do the Live Love Lipstick edition!  Here are things you’re sure to find in any of my purses at any point in time…

Cell: iPhone in a great case to be exact, need I say more?

Wallet: I get made fun of by friends for having a “mom wallet”, but I love to have space for everything, and I’m especially loving this new one!

Sunglasses: I live in FL, these are necessary 365 days a year.  Currently loving these Tory Burch shades, plus how cute is the tortoise case they come in?

LLL Business Cards: Am now official enough to hand out cards of my own, ya know, for when people like my Grandma ask for one.  Can’t take credit though, they are the work of my amazingly talented web and graphic designer Colin Johnson, contact asap for anything and everything!  (He has enough patience to deal with me aka he’s a saint.)

Hand Cream: I swear I’m part iguana with my horribly dry skin.  I touch a single piece of paper and need to reapply, pathetic.

Hair Ties and Bobby Pins: Carry them in loads…never know when you’ll need to pin pieces back or do a quick bun, especially from the lovely humidity down here.

Mints and Candy: Because I’m a 5 year old.

Lipsticks, Balms, and Glosses: In need of a lip pick-me-up?  Need it in a coral, pink, red, or berry shade?  I carry them all at all times!  Seriously.

What’s in your bag??

Xo,

Leah
