Humpday Helper

Happy Humpday everyone!

Here are two quick nail tips:

Best way to dry your nails?  Dunk them in ice water!

Whether I do my own nails at home or when I return home from the salon, I try to find the courage to dunk my hands in a bowl filled with ice water.  (I say courage because after a couple of minutes they’re so cold they sting!)  But it’s worth the pain!

Clean out your old bottles!

I did a Fall cleaning of my nail polish collection and tossed all ancient bottles ,where it was clear that the color had either turned or the bottle was goop city.  I had tons of small bins of polish, but had recently purchased these acrylic nail polish holders. The end result is my own mini salon worthy collection, categorized by color obvi.  I still have a surplus small bin filled with Top Coats, Base Coats, etc but I’ve loving the look (even if it’s just for inside my linen closet).

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

So it’s officially October.  How and when did that happen?  I don’t really care as it’s one of my favorite months…the beginning of Fall, Halloween, and most importantly Breast Cancer Awareness month.

I became involved in this important initiative when I joined my sorority in college (love to all my Zetas out there!) as the philanthropy we supported was the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.  It was incredible to be able to help not only the foundation, but a cause that unfortunately affects so many of us.

Now that the month is here, I wanted to share with you easy and fun ways to show your support.  One way is very simple…shopping!  My girl Guiliana Rancic, who was sadly diagnosed last year at the early age of 37, explains it best:

“Fashion is the perfect outlet because it takes breast cancer awareness directly to women. Women love to shop and use beauty products, so if they happen to see products out in the mall or in their local drugstore that are working in conjunction to breast cancer research, it might make them stop and think, ‘Oh I need to get checked!’ or ‘When was my last mammogram?’”

Here are some items just waiting for you to purchase!

Clockwise beginning top left:

Tory Burch Limited-Edition Hardshell Pink Phone Case: 15% of sales will be donated to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation up to a maximum donation of $15,000.

Junk Food NFL Breast Cancer Awareness T-shirt: 100% of profits are donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Exclusively at Bloomingdale’s.

Clinique Breast Cancer Awareness Chubby Stick: $3 from every sale of this limited edition shade will be donated to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Essie Breast Cancer Awareness Collection:  Includes four different shades of pink including I Am Strong, Good Morning Hope, Check-Up, We Are In It Together.  They also feature 31 Days on Pink, which features a different shade of pink for each day of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Today’s color is one of my fav pinks, Adore-A-Ball.  Essie has also made a charitable donation to Living Beyond Breast Cancer.

Bobbi Brown Link Peony Set:  Includes a limited edition Pink Peony illuminating bronzing powder and mini face blender brush.  For every set sold, $10 will be donated to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Smashbox Be Legendary in Inspiration: $5 from each purchase will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Tory Burch Limited-Edition Pink Double-Wrap Logo Stud Bracelet: 15 percent of sales will be donated to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation up to a maximum donation of $15,000.

Impact Make One T-shirt: Available on shopkomen.com to purchase with purpose to end breast cancer.

Pink Woven RuffleButts Diaper Cover: 50% of proceeds from all pink woven RuffleButts sold in October will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.  And plus, how cute??

Tweezerman Precision in Pink Tweezers: For every tweezer purchased, Tweezerman will donate $1 to Cosmetic Executive Women’s Cancer and Careers and Susan G. Komen for the cure.

AVON Breast Cancer Ear Buds: For every pair bought, $5.25 will be donated to the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade.

Ruff Ruff & Meow ‘Cancer Ribbon’ Cotton Dog Tank Top: Fozzie can now show his support too! 10% of proceeds will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the month of October.

Center:

Kohl’s Cares ELLE Eiffel Tower Cosmetic Bag: 100% of the net profit from each bag bought will be donated to the fight against Breast Cancer.

Side note: Guiliana is pictured above with her statement necklace she designed for Loft, which is truly stunning. 25% of proceeds will go to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Think Pink!

Cosmetic Case of the Mondays: Dior Addict Lip Glow

I apologize for keeping this from you all for so long, but I must spread the word about my absolute favorite favorite lip product: Dior Addict Lip Glow.

To say I’m addicted is an understatement.  I went through my first tube in just a couple of months (please keep in mind that it usually takes me forever to run out of any makeup product since I have so much) and ran to Sephora immediately to get another one before I was even fully finished with my first.  It is the most moisturizing balm I’ve ever used plus it pulls your natural pigment, creating a custom color just for your lips!  While it’s pricey at $30, it truly is a must for me!

My other fav Dior Addict product is the Lip Maximizer High Volume Lip Plumper.  Just like the Lip Glow, the plumper is uber moisturizing!  It’s not a plumper with a ton of tingle, which may or may not be a good thing for you (it’s a god thing for me) and I love to wear it over the Lip Glow for a high shine, glossy look!

Here are my faves from some of Bloomies top designers:

1. Victoria Peplum Dress – So classic, can’t get enough of peplum.  Seriously, you should look at my closet.

2. Dandi Back Keyhole Dress – Classy in the front, party in the black!

3. Ophelia Lace Dress – Can’t get over this dress!  Someone invite me to the perfect holiday party so I have an excuse to get this!!

1. Long Sleeve V Back Sequin Dress – This sequined number is perfect for upcoming holiday season!

2. Elbow Sleeve Party Lace Dress – Such a sweet dress and I love that it’s navy!

3. White Pearl Collar Ponte Party Dress – Perfect for the Peter Pan style that’s popping up everywhere.

4. Faux Leather Tuxedo Ponte Leggings – Loving these leggings as I’m really digging the tuxedo trend!

5. Oversized Color Block Tunic Cashmere Sweater – This looks deliciously cozy, however I’d probably opt to wear over black pants/leggings.

6. Leather & Ponte Short Sleeve Dress – This looks like a killer leather dress for much less money than others out there!

1. Nina Leather Inset Dress – So I actually purchased this dress a couple of weeks ago from Saks (obvi kicking myself that I didn’t score 20% off) and I’m obsessed with it!  I will say I’m not crazy about how it looks it this pic, so I strongly encourage you to check it out in person.  So chic!

2. Raquelle Flare Skirt – This skirt looks like it creates such a fun silhouette, and I love the pop of green!

3. Bree Lurex Stripe Jacquard Peplum Dress – I never thought I’d be saying this about a Milly dress, but this looks like it would be so hot for NYE!  Never too early to start looking!

4. Linde Collar Top – Love love love this collar!  Daydreaming about how it would look tucked into a fun leather mini, sigh…

1. Nailhead Jersey Dress – So here’s another one that I stronglyyy urge you to check out in person as this photo barely does it justice!

2. Bustier Leather Dress – Could there be a hotter combo?  I think not.

Don’t forget to frost yourself!

1. Juicy Couture Punk Rocks Crystal Rhinestone Collar Necklace – Don’t want to invest in multiple Peter Pan ensembles?  Transform any top or dress with this necklace!

2. Kate Spade Putting on the Ritz Stud Earrings – These could go with anything and how much do you love the name?!

3. Alex and Ami Feather Bangle – A couple of these paired together would make the perfect accessory for an FSU game, Go Noles!

4. Kate Spade Idiom Draw the Line Bangle – Love the simplicity and the fact that it comes in multiple colors and widths.

5. Kate Spade Come Full Circle Pendant Necklace – Once again, so simple yet different.  Could help transform any outfit and still not take it over.

6. Aqua Cluster Necklace – I absolutely love finding pieces that mix both gold and silver together making it beyond versatile.  Sometimes it’s hard to accomplish without it look tacky, but this is perfect!

7. More Kate Spade Bangles – How cute do they all look clustered together?  Such great arm candy!

8. House of Harlow 1960 “Sunburst” Leather Button Earrings – Such a fun and different look for your ears!

As always, happy shopping!

Bloomingdale’s Friends & Family

I’m thrilled to announce that Bloomingdale’s is having their Friends & Family sale beginning today through Monday, woop woop!  They will be offering 20% on well, almost everything (10% of small electronics and some exclusions apply, sadly that of course includes makeup, sigh).  I have gone ahead and picked out quite a few things currently on my wish list below.  Please note, I tried my hardest to make sure I didn’t include anything that wasn’t included in the promotion after I called Customer Service, but I swear sometimes when you checkout some rules end up changing, hopefully for the better!  But fingers crossed everything below is fair game!

1. Cole Haan Jodhpur Flat Boots – These look like the absolute perfect brown riding boots.  Hopefully they aren’t too big on my chicken legs!

2. Kate Spade Charm Glitter Slingbacks – I have been in love with these puppies since they came out.  Love them in every color and am convinced each one could go with any dress.

3. Kate Spade Lori High Heels – These suede pumps look so luxe and are ideal for Fall and Winter

4. Vince Camuto Ellen Flats – I absolutely live in ballet flats during the week, because as much as I hate to admit it, I’m way too lazy to wear heels to work.  I love the nude patent and they look very similar to the Tory Burch Eddie Flats (not included in promo) that I have in gold and simply adore, but for a fraction of the price!

5. Hunter Rain Boots: Cece Logo Riding Boots – A wonderful combo of the classic Hunter Rain Boots with the look of a stylish riding boot.  Genius.  (Especially as we’ve entered Autumn and yet we’re still suffering from daily rain here is SoFla.)

1. Marc by Marc Jacobs Flipping Out Colorblock Clutch – I love the shape and mixture of colors of this clutch, it makes it so versatile!

2. Marc by Marc Jacobs Standard Supply iPad Case – You know by now that I still can’t get enough of neon, despite Summer being over so I of course love the look of this iPad case!

3. Rebecca Minkoff Mini Mac Crossbody Clutch – I own this bag in two different colors and two different sizes and I could honestly keep finding variations that I want.  Such a great staple!!

4. Kate Spade Out of Office Laptop Sleeve – I adore all things Kate Spade particularly for the cheekiness.  Never gets old.

5. Kate Spade Paint the Town Red Silicone iPhone Case – KS specifically makes great iPhone cases.  New ones keep coming out and I swear, if it was socially acceptable to have a plethora of phone cases that you change out to go with your mood/outfit, I’d own them all!

1. Diane Von Furstenberg Radiant Lacquer Coasters, set of 4 – Obsessed with the shape of these coasters!

2. Michael Aram “Heart” Photo Frame – Such a sweet and playful picture frame, would be a terrific engagement gift!

3. Kate Spade Say the Word “Word Search” Dish – Seriously Kate?!  How incredibly fun and different?  Gives even more of an incentive to wolf down appies.  Love!

4. Kosta Boda Mini Makeup Collection – Could you think of a more chic way to spruce up a vanity or dresser?  I need these mini crystal nail polish, lips, and lipstick stat!

5. Kate Spade Say the Word Paperweights – Sorry for the KS overload, but as I said I can’t get enough and these witty paperweights are no exception!

Stay tuned for when I go over all of the clothes and jewelry on my mile long wish list on tomorrow’s Fashion Friday!

Emmy Fashion

Since the Emmys 2012 Fashion Police special aired last night (one of my favorite things about awards shows), I figured I’d pretend to be on the panel and give you my take on the biggest trends we saw this past Sunday night at the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards.

Color Trends

We saw multiple shades of yellows , most memorable were worn by the following ladies who not only were nominated, but all of them actually won in their vibrant hues:

Julie Bowen in Monique Lhullier – Julie looked absolutely stunning in this gown and was one of my personal favorites of the evening.  Big congrats to Julie for winning Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy for the second year in a row for her role as the amazing Claire Dunphy in Modern Family, one of my favorite shows!

Claire Danes in Lanvin – Claire claimed she picked this for it’s comfort, which I understand as she is expecting but still not sure it was the most flattering cut.  So happy for she and her husband though, Angela Chase is all grown up!

Julianne Moore in Christian Dior – No matter what critics say I actually loved this gown!  It of course could have/should have been dressed up a little more with maybe a bright statement necklace or possibly something different with her hair, but the dress is gorgeous.

Orange was another bright shade we saw during the evening.  Ginnifer Goodwin rocked an awesome Monique Lhullier gown which I personally think she pulled off really well with her pixie haircut.  Leslie Mann, in Naeem Khan, looked beautiful in her ensemble, pairing it with turquoise jewelry, a messy bun, and she was clearly loving her pockets.

We also saw many shades of dark reds, specifically on Kat Dennings looking amazinggg while showing her girls off in a J Mendel gown, Jena Mallone also in J Mendel, and winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Vera Wang (who called her personally asking if she could design Julia’s gown for her).  I have to say at 51 years old, Julia Louis-Dreyfus rocked it!  I’m not just saying that as a lifelong Seinfeld fan, I thought the dress was beautiful.  Then again, the day that Vera Wang calls me asking if she can make me a gown for my husband Jared’s upcoming political fundraiser, I’d expect that one to be beautiful as well.  (Vera, I’m available anytime to go over sketchings.)

Fresh Meat

The newly single women in Hollywood took advantage of the big night to look HOT!  The first of course being Ms Heidi Klum, in a sky blue Alexandre Vauthier gown, donned what is possibly the highest slit I’ve ever seen.  But if anybody could pull it off, it would be her and those legs.  No wonder why she supposedly hasn’t stayed off the market very long.  Another soon-to-be-divorcee who looked probably the best I’ve ever seen was the absolutely hilarious Amy Poehler (if you didn’t catch her bit with Julia Louis-Dreyfus after losing Best Actress in a Comedy series, watch it on YouTube now!  Well, after you’re done reading of course…) in Stella McCartney.  The fact that I actually have to refer to her as single breaks my heart as I’m still coping with the split of her and Will Arnett.  But she truly did look great!

Funny Gals

In addition to Amy, there were many other funny gals in attendance.  Some broght the glam, others not as much.  Zooey Deschanel stuck true to her quirky, retro style in a pale blue laser cut Reem Acra gown.  I actually loved the bright pop of lipstick she wore, however I could have done without the televisions nail art, but then again that’s why we love her.  Speaking of which, New Girl returns tonight with a two episode premiere.  I’m a big fan!

Amy Poehler’s BBF, Tina Fey in Vivienne Westwood, never looked better!

Other funny girls who I personally love, weren’t as successful with their looks, such as Kristen Wiig and Lena Dunham.  But since I truly adore them both (Kristen, I’ll miss you so much on SNL and Lena, you are a genius and so successful and are younger than me, what the hell?… Do you like how I pretend celebs are reading my blog? Ha!), I’ll skip over them and just remind everyone they have great personalities…

Arm Candy

Many times the not-as famous dates of Hollywood’s men and women don’t get enough credit as they should.  Here were my favorite significant others:

Lauren Parsekian, winner Aaron Paul’s bombshell of a fiancé.

Jennifer Westfeldt, Jon Hamm’s long time girlfriend looking beautiful as always.

Keith Lieberthal, Julianna Margulies’s hunk of a hubby!  Woah!

Random Crushes

So I have to say there are a couple of people I am majorly crushing and seeing them work it on the red carpet only made me love them more.

The first is the beautiful and talented Allison Williams who plays Marnie in Girls (fun fact: she daughter to the legendary news anchor and closet funnyman Brian Williams).  I think she is simply stunning in this emerald gown, and I am obsessed with the hot pink lace dress she rocked at a pre-Emmy’s party.

I’m also crushing Max Greenfield from New Girl who does an amazing job as Schmidt on the show.  Max looked dapper as can be in his tux and a stud at the after party with co-star Zooey.  Plus, tall, dark, funny, and Jewish?!  (Read that he had a Saturday Night Live themed Bar Mitzvah, I swoon.)  How could I not be crushing??  Sorry Jared…

Hope you loved the big show as much as I did!
