Cosmetic Case of the Mondays

I hope everyone had a “fabulicious” weekend (sorry, I’m absolutely loving this season of RHNJ already!), we had a wonderful time with friends and family, including showering one of my best and oldest friends who’s going to welcome a son shortly!  Samuel’s also keeping us on our toes as usual, but especially now while teething, ugh.

So I haven’t purchased eye shadow or an eye shadow palette in quite some time.  Be proud, this is huge for me, as I finally decided I had pretty much every hue my eyes could ever dream of.  Until now.  I introduce the newest Too Faced palette, Cat Eyes.  As I’ve expressed in the past, I’m a huge fan of the Too Faced eye shadow palettes (especially Boudoir Eyes, Naked Eyes, and Natural Eyes) as they include nine colors, guides to accomplish three different looks, which can of course also be used interchangeably.  The Cat Eyes (which is limited edition, I repeat limited edition!) palette features matte, shimmer, and glitter shades to create an array of cat eye looks.  What could be fiercer?!

The included “Glamour Guide” includes three looks (Day, Classic, and Fashion) which show fool proof steps to accomplish the vivid wet-to-dry looks, including the perfect wing tip for a dramatic cat eye in just minutes!  Me-ow!

Cheers to a great week ahead!

Fashion Friday

Happy Friday!

I’ve been loving up on some ASOS lately (as if there’s a time in which I’m not…), and here’s what I’m currently digging and contemplating ordering.  You order and while you’re waiting for it to arrive you then think of where you can where it to, right?!

skater dress

Is this cutwork skater dress not the cutest thing ever?  I’m obsessed with the cutwork, playful flared skirt, high neckline, and obvi that back!  Available in black and cobalt.

skirt outfit

The pieces in this ensemble are sold separately and I’m dying over both of them!  The floral print pencil skirt is playful, polished, and perfect!  The white crop top with curved hem in coated fabric looks like such a chic and cool crop top!  What I also love is how many different pieces you could pair with both the skirt and the top.

frill jumpsuit

I am a HUGE fan of jumpsuits.  I think they’re classy, fashionable, and best part is how effortless they are!  And this shoulder frill jumpsuit is definitely no exception, the frill definitely adds some flair!

cray cray

And for whatever reason I just can’t get enough of this cray cray shirt…

Which outfit is your favorite?

Have a great weekend and happy shopping!

nordstrom-ann-sale

1. Diane von Furstenberg ‘Zarita’ Lace Sheath Dress in Plum, $216.90, after sale price $325: So this dress is definitely an all time favorite of mine, so much so that I’m guilty of owning it in two different colors, neither of which include this beautiful plum color.  I’m convinced this dress can be worn to so many different events and occasions and is beyond flattering!  May be adding another to my collection…

2. Nordstrom at Home ‘Sweet Apartment’ Dish Towel, $8.90, after sale price $14: Well if this isn’t the cutest little hand towel I ever did see.  Would make the cutest gift to a housewarming, I mean apartment-warming, party!

3. Rebecca Minkoff ‘Erin – Chic Happens’ Leather Pouch, $33.43, after sale price $75: I’m obsessed with Rebecca Minkoff pouches, they’re perfect for carrying lipstick, mints, bobby pins, and more lipstick all together to either use alone or throw in a bag.  This way everything’s together as opposed to being loose in the black holes we call purses.  They also make the best gifts!

4. Kate Spade New York ‘Play Hooky’ iPhone 5 & 5S Case, $25.90, after sale price $40: It’s no secret I’m in love with all things Kate Spade, including the phone cases, and this one is by no means an exception!  Not only is the gold playful yet luxe, it’s also mirrored!  Guaranteed to keep your phone looking fab!

5. Loeffler Randall ‘Work’ Tote, $398.90, after sale price $625:  I’m pretty sure there’s nothing I don’t love about this tote.  The mix of colors.  The mix of textures.  I’m sold!  Do you know a recent graduate starting their first “real world job”?  Did you just score a promotion?  Do you just love this bag as much I do that you will try and think of any excuse to justify buying it?  Go for it!

6. Kate Spade New York ‘Lottie’ Pump, $219.90, after sale price $350: All I can say is I couldn’t wait; these have already been purchased and I’m counting down their arrival.  You.should.too.

7. UGG® Australia ‘Brett’ Water Resistant Suede Slipper, $79.90, after sale price $119.95: I’ve been eyeing these slippers for multiple seasons.  Even though I may not get so much use out of them living in SoFla, I still adore them.  And everyone deserves a fun pair of slippers, right?  Sidenote: Slippers are a great gift for a soon-to-be mom if you’re in the market for a gift!

Happy Shopping!

21 Drops

So I want to share one of my new favorite lines with you today, 21 Drops.  These essential oils are my new go-to to help with ailments or just pick-me-ups!  The $29 rollerballs make it easy to keep with you at home, the office, car, and even purse!  I currently have 05 – Headache, 15 – Decongest17 – Digest, and 18 – Sleep in my medicine cabinet and am loving using them rather than reaching for traditional medicine!  What’s great is that they can be combined or used alone and I definitely have my eye on some of the other drops in the collection, as well as their “Quick Fix” set, which is a sampler pack of their four most popular oils (Headache, Passion, Focus, and Sleep) for just $15.  And great news, 21 Drops is offering a special 15% discount for all LLL readers (woop woop!) by using the promo code “livelovelipstick” at checkout, so now is the time to stock up!  These oils would also make the perfect gift as I’m sure you have loved ones that could benefit from these as well.  I know my husband could probably use all 21 of them (ok, maybe not the PMS Relief oil), but certainly the Headache, Focus, Pain Relief, Focus, De-Stress, Sleep, and did I mention Focus?!

21 drops

As a special treat and since there’s so much to learn about the company I figured who better to educate us all than the founder of 21 Drops, Cary Caster, so I asked her some questions geared especially toward the Live Love Lipstick reader!

LLL: So what makes 21 Drops different than competitive essential oils?
21 Drops: We offer pre-blended essential oil blends created to address 21 different conditions. They are conveniently packaged in colorful, portable roll on containers that are fun and easy to use anytime, anywhere!

LLL: Which drops would you suggest women using on a daily basis as a regimen, similar to taking daily vitamins?  For men?
21 Drops: For both men and women, I recommend starting the day with 01 – Invigorate.  It can be used instead of, or with your morning java. The essential oils in this blend really help to get the blood pumping and awaken the senses to help you jump start your day!  Before I hit the tennis courts, I dab some 03 – Strength, or 07 – Equalize is great before my yoga practice. Once you hit the office, it’s 09 – Focus that I keep on hand and is also a great pick me up at that 4:00pm lull. As for the evening time, using 10 – Calm or 11 – De-stress before walking in the door or picking up the family. It’s a great way to set the tone for a positive mind going into that hectic dinner hour where everyone’s cranky! And of course, right before bed, 18 – Sleep can help you to drift off without interruption! I also like to use 14 – Immunity every day because you never know what you’ll come across throughout the day.

LLL: What would you say to the skeptic out there who doesn’t think the drops are as effective as taking medicine?
21 Drops: I say that nothing negative can come of it, so why not give it a try? What most people don’t realize is that 80% of our current drugs are created from the synthesis of natural components first found in nature. What’s special about the therapeutic quality essential oils chosen for our blends is that their active components are easily broken down without any harmful side effects. The oils provide the proper building blocks or support our bodies need to build up our natural systems rather than suppressing symptoms as most medicines do, all the while also offering relief.

LLL: Are there any drops that could help in the beauty department, say help clear skin?
21 Drops: Our 14 – Immunity blend could also be applied to areas of acne since the active components are astringent and kill the bacteria that cause outbreaks. 07 – Equalize , which was created for managing emotional moodiness, also contains essential oils that are very nourishing to the skin (Palmarosa, Rose, Frankincense and Sandalwood). Of course 18 – Sleep is necessary to aid a restful sleep, which affects our appearance the next day!

quick fix

So be sure to take advantage of the 15% off “livelovelipstick” promo and order your 21 Drops today!

Humpday Helper

Happy Humpday!

vh1 nicole

Remember many moons ago when I talked about Nicole Richie’s new AOL web series, Candidly Nicole and how absolutely amazing it was?  Well apparently I wasn’t the only one who thought so as VH1 picked it up and is now premiering tomorrow night at 10pm, so excited!  I absolutely adore Nicole and think she is seriously hysterical!  (Did anyone catch her on Watch What Happens Live last week?  Uh-mazing!)

nicole

About the show: Based on Nicole’s hilarious (and often inappropriate) Twitter feed, Candidly Nicole details her daily adventures while providing insight into her views on everything from style to relationships to parallel parking. Surrounded by a core group of friends and family, Nicole holds nothing back on her journey into adulthood.

I’m only left with one question, why am I not in her core group of friends?!  Either way, tune in tomorrow night for the laughs!

Cosmetic Case of the Mondays

Hello!

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!  My mom’s visiting so we’ve had a great time with her as well as spending time with additional family and friends, not to mention the highly anticipated return of the Real Housewives of New Jersey, hello!  Did you watch the premiere and the highlights to the upcoming season?  Oh em Jersey!

So I’m really really liking MAC’s new collection, Moody Blooms!  The colors featured are so bright and beautiful, but as always they can be added to more subtle colors to just add a pop of pizazz!  As much as I was digging the shadows (especially Hidden Motive, a beautiful deep aubergine, which would be great for a purple smokey eye), I ended up just pulling the trigger on a lipstick and some blushes.

mac pheromonal

I’m already a huge fan of MAC’s Sheen Supreme Lipsticks (lipstick + gloss = me likey!) so I was eager to check these ones out!  I settled on Pheromonal, a dark blue pink, which was a hot pink meets berry color on me which I love!  I also really liked Phosphorescent, an electric pink coral, but was a bit too neon looking on me.

mac wordly wealth

MAC-Bred-for-Beauty

It was not love at first sight when I saw the blushes in the collection, but then I started playing with them and sure enough, I started liking!  I realized that applying Wordly Wealth, shimmering peachy bronze, first and then applying a little of Bred for Beauty, matte midtone blue pink, on top it looked great!  Definitely hot for the summer months!

Be sure to check them out before they’re all gone!

Cheers to a fab weekend!

Xo,
Leah
