Sephora’s Beauty Insider Event

I know I say it all the time, but I really am the worst blogger. Every time I reach for my computer to write a blog post, I’m distracted by online {window} shopping, FB browsing, whatever Bravo show is on my TV in the background, as well as trying to help friends find deals and send them suggestions when they ask for a recommendation. So basically I’m doing/talking about things I should be writing about here, but don’t. So again, I suck at being a blogger. But nonetheless here I am and with perfect timing…it’s Sephora’s Beauty Insider Event again! So for everyone wondering what new makeup or skincare they should try, this post is for you!

While I’m continuosly trying different products, a lot of my favorites have remained the same from their last Beauty Event in April so I highly recommend you reading my post I wrote for that included recommendations for makeup, skincare, hair, and sun products. The list is thorough and still suggest all of the products I wrote about then. Below are all of the other items I’ve either fallen in love with since or just purchased myself for this sale. As a reminder, Sephora rarely does promotions so now is the perfect time to stock up on your favorites as well as try something new. All Beauty Insider members receive 15% off all products using code INSIDER15, all VIB members receive 20% off with code 20FORVIB, and all Rouge members receive 20% off with code 20FORROUGE, online or in-store through Wednesday.

Sephora Favorites Superstars Everyday Must Haves: If there is one gift set to buy this holiday season, this is it. I purchase this set every year (each year the products vary) because it’s such a good value. It’s compiled of best selling products for an insane deal. It’s the best gift for the beauty lover (or novice even) or best way to restock your own makeup bag. Make sure to purchase fast, it always sells out!

Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick: In April I recommended the Make Up For Ever foundation stick and while I still really like that one, I’ve fallen in love with this one. Great coverage and super fast and easy application!

Dyson Blown-A-Ouai Set: Again, last year I recommended the T3 hair dryer (which is what I currently use), and while I haven’t pulled the trigger to purchase this since my T3 is still in great condition, I have heard SUCH amazing things about this dryer. So if you’re looking for a new hair dryer, now is the time to snag this one using your discount. This particular set also comes with four essential products from the luxe hair company Ouai for free!

Buxom Plumpline Lip Liner: I just purchased this in the shade Code Red. I certainly have enough red lipsticks (my weakness), I’m excited to try this as you use it to both line and fill your lips so essentially it’s a liner and lipstick in one; all for a great price!

Sunday Riley Space Race Fight Acne, Oil + Pores at Warp Speed Kit: It’s no secret I love the Sunday Riley line (this is still the best kit for the money, hands down) so I’m beyond excited to try this set. Each of the three products it comes with (mask, toner, and oil) get amazing reviews and I’ll pretty much try anything to keep my skin clear.

Olehenriksen Truth Serum: As I just said, I’ll try anything to keep my skin looking good and I couldn’t pass up trying the mini size (so cheap!) of this serum. It includes Vitamin C and Collagen which are key skincare ingredients to keep your skin bright, plump, and hydrated.

Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist: I’ve been eyeing this product for quite some time now and obviously this was the perfect time to finally try it. It is a moisturizing mist that can be applied under or over makeup for a dewy glow. It received a lot of buzz after Kim Kardashian called it out in a Snapchat video of a makeup tutorial, saying she uses it on a sponge or brush before applying her foundation for an extra glow. Thanks KK!

IT Cosmetics Secret Sauce Clinically Advanced Miraculous Anti-Aging Moisturizer: This was another product I was itching to try and it just so happens I’m almost out of my Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream, and while I truly love it, I get greedy and like to see what else is out there. This moisturizer gets rave reviews and while it’s pricey, the name alone sells me. Like, I need something clinical, advanced, miraculous, and anti-aging…yes, please!!

Let me know if you have any questions about any of products!

Happy Shopping!

Leah

July Magazine Article

Hello everyone and Happy July!

I hope everyone has been having a fabulous start to the month! We had a great 4th filled with way too many fireworks purchased by my husband, and a fun quick getaway with the boys this past weekend to Marco Island! Time is suddenly flying; you light a sparkler and suddenly it’s almost mid-month!

After a maternity-hiatus, I’m so excited to say I’m back to writing my beauty column for the Lifestyle Media Group magazine for South Florida and this month’s column is all about Lip Service! One of the biggest focuses in my everyday beauty regimen, during both day and night, is my lips. Whether it’s a balm to keep them moisturized or a lipstick to transform my outfit (and mood), I’m always looking for the next latest and greatest lip products, which is why I’ve rounded up some of my current favorites for you! See below for all of my current top lip product picks for the perfect pout!

Beauty magazine article

Aesthetica Long Lasting Matte Liquid Lipstick:
Aesthetica has made a name for itself with its contouring and highlighting kits, but I’m just as sold on these liquid lipsticks. They can be worn day or night and are formulated to last for hours, without drying out. Readers can receive 50 perfect off all items (yes, 50% off off!!) using the promotional code LIVELOVE50. $16; www.aesthetica.me

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment Sunscreen SPF 15:
This product moisturizes, provides SPF and gives you a subtle but buildable color – perfect for wearing during the day! Suggested colors: Poppy, Tulip, and Berry. $24; Sephora, Nordstrom

NARS Audacious Lipstick:
A Hall of Fame brand when it comes to lipstick formulas, these NARS lipsticks (with 40 plus colors) glide on smoothly and are so pigment rich you can wear them without a lip liner. The color lasts, and your lips never feel dry.  $34; Sephora, Department Stores, www.narscosmetics.com

Urban Decay Meltdown Makeup Remover Lip Oil Stick:
The the downside to long-lasting lipsticks is that you fear the color may really never wear off. This powerful-yet-gentle makeup remover stick is designed for such products. It will leave your lips hydrated and replenished. $15; Sephora, Ulta

MAC Prep + Prime Lip:
As avid lipstick users will attest, this is one of the Holy Grail products and I wouldn’t dare apply a swipe of lipstick without it! It smoothes out my lips and adds moisture, creating the perfect canvas for any shade to be applied on top. It also keeps my lipstick in place, an absolute must have! $17.50; MAC stores, Bloomingdales, Nordstrom

Cheers to an awesome month!

Sephora’s VIB Sale

Happy Friday!!

It’s here! The annual Sephora VIB Sale is here! Beginning today through Monday, VIB members will receive 20% off your entire purchase, both in-store and online using promo code 20VIB. Now’s the time to either ‘Restock & Save’ on all of your regular purchases, ‘Splurge & Try’ any items that you’ve been coveting, as well as take advantage and jump on your holiday shopping with the best gift sets out there! Here are my lists of suggestions for the promotion of the year!

Sephora VIB Sale

Restock & Save:

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup – As I just wrote about in my November Lifestyle Media Group magazine article, this has quickly become my go-to foundation when I’m looking for smooth application that will last up to 15 hours! (FYI I wear the shade ‘Wheat’)

Dior Diorshow Maximizer Lash Primer - I know I’ve written about this many times in the past, I’ve been using it for years and never apply mascara without it!

Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream – I started using this moistuzer at night a couple of months ago and I’m so happy I did! I love how smooth my skin feels, how light the cream feels, and I even love the smell.

TooFaced Better Than Sex Mascara – Coming from a girl who has tried countless mascaras, this is by far my absolute favorite! I’ve gone through many, many tubes and will continue to do so.

BeautyBlender – A cult classic, and as much as I try (keyword: try) to keep mine relatively clean, now is a great time to purchase myself a new one!

Clarisonic Replacement Brush Head – If you use a Clarisonic to clean your face, it is suggested to replace your brush head every 3 months. Raise your hand if you’re guilty of not replacing it that often (cue hand raised!). I really like the Radiance Brush Head which cleans and addresses dark spots and uneven skintones for a radiant and more youthful complexion.

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo – This is my favorite dry shampoo and I’m sure I’ll be going through my fair share of it once I have the baby, so now’s the time to stock up!

NARS Audacious Lipstick – I know I rant about these all time and for good reason! They glide right on providing the perfect amount of color that you need just one swipe. My favorite shades are Fanny (Rich Berry), Anna (Smokey Rose), and Stefania (Deep Magenta Fuchsia).

Dior Addict Lip Glow – It’s almost embarrassing how many of these I’ve gone through over the years, but it truly is one of my absolute favorite beauty products. It’s hands down the most moisturizing lip balm, providing a gorgeous subtle natural color.

Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream – I got hooked on this cream about a year ago and I’m so grateful I did. Applying it each morning, it’s like a cup of coffee for the eye, as it’s actually made with coffee beans and ginseng, helping reduce puffiness and dark circles.

Too Faced Soleil Matte Bronzer – I love this bronzer for three reasons: the multiple shades available, the matte finish, and the insanely delicious chocolate smell. Seriously though, I could eat it.

Sephora VIB Sale Splurges

Splurge & Try:

T3 Whirl Trio Interchangeable Styling Wand – I love this curling iron because A. I’m a moron and can only figure out how to curl my hair with a clipless curling iron and B. I think it’s brilliant this it comes with three interchangeable barrels, allowing you to only purchase one curling iron with countless styling looks. Not to mention it was also an Allure Best of Beauty 2016 winner.

Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion Age Defying Exfoliator - This is hands down my favorite exfoliator as it truly feels like it mimics a microdermabrasion treatment from a spa. While it’s on the pricier side, mine has really lasted as all you need is a pea size amount, just once or twice a week.

Sunday Riley Power Couple Duo Kit - This is the best kit to try out two of Sunday Riley’s bestselling products; Good Genes and Luna Sleeping Night Oil. It’s a great price cut and even though they are smaller sizes, they’re still quite generous. But warning: you’ll absolutely fall in love with them! And if you’d like to explore more of the fan favorite brand, you can purchase the brand new set #SquadGoals Skincare Essential Kit, which also includes trial sizes of Good Genes and Luna Sleeping Oil, but also the Ceramic Slip Clay Cleanser and Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream as well.

Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer – So if you haven’t heard by now, the bestselling vacuum company, Dyson, has developed a hair dryer which is certain to be at the top of every beauty junkie’s wish list. It’s a high-speed, powerful dryer that delivers heat control for shine, dries hair fast, and straightens and smooths your hair. It includes intelligent heat control technology, which helps prevent heat damage. The downside? It’s $400. The upside? You can now save 20% on it!

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer - While this primer is pricey, it’s a bestseller for a reason. It’s mineral-based, water-resistant, and creates a perfectly smooth canvas for makeup application.

Shiseido Benefiance WrinkleRelease24 Intensive Eye Contour Cream - I’ve been dying to try this eye cream as I’m a huge fan of the brand and the fact that this cream fights five different types of eye wrinkles, while also working on loss of firmness and dark circles.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Glow Stick Glistening Illuminator - This is my new favorite highlighter than I encourage everyone to try, especially since it’s a universal shade to accomplish the perfect dewy glow!

Clarisonic Mia 2 Sea Breeze First Aid Beauty Set – If you’ve been longing for a Clarisonic cleaning device, now is the time to pull the trigger! And this set is great that for the same price as a regular Mia 2, it comes with three First Aid Beauty essentials products, a Sensitive Brush Head, and Luxe Facial Brush Head.

Sephora Collection Pro Airbrush #55 – I have been using this foundation brush for years and love that it really does provide an airbrush finish. Simply buff your makeup (whether it’s a powder, liquid, or cream) in circular motions.

Sephora VIB Sale Gift Sets

Gift Sets:

Sephora Favorites Superstars – These annual sets are always filled with the luxe products, giving a sample of bestsellers and this year’s is no exception! It’s filled with seven full-size items as well as six trial size items, including mascara, eyeliner, eye shadow, primer, and a highlighter.

GlamGlow Poutmud Wet Lip Balm Treatment Ornament - If you’re looking for just a little something to be used as a White Elephant or stocking stuffer gift, look no further! Everyone’s lips get destroyed in the winter and this Poutmud Treatment is your solution, as it restores your lips making them softer and hydrated. It’s even wrapped as an ornament!

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit – Surreal Light – For the beauty expert or beauty newbie in your life (which could of course be yourself, wink wink) this powder palette is ideal! It includes the oh so popular Hourglass highlighter powders, bronzer, and blushes.

Fresh Skincare Treasures – I am such a fan of the brand Fresh and now you can buy someone the perfect gift set which features all of my faves from the brand! For a great price, the set includes trial sizes of their best cleanser, moisturizer, eye cream, face polish scrub (which is amazing!!), and their Rose lip treatment balm.

GlamGlow Gift Sexy Supermud Set - This set of of three Glamglow’s bestselling masks would make an amazing gift for anyone looking for clear skin, including Supermud Clearing Treatment, Thirstymud Hydrating Treatment, and Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatment.

Sephora Glitter Happy Brush Sets – Know anyone in need of some new makeup brushes? I couldn’t think of better ones to purchase for the holiday season! It includes six luxe brushes and the most festive glittery brush stand, which is sure to add the perfect sparkle to your vanity.

Happy Shopping!

November Magazine Article

Hi everyone!

Happy November! I hope you’ve adjusted to the time change and that you had a great weekend! I’m still on bedrest – just eating, watching Bravo, and waiting for baby! So crazy to think that soon enough he’ll be here (today is exactly one month from due date!), as will the holidays; so much to be thankful for! I’m also grateful for the following reliable beauty products from this month’s Lifestyle Media Group Magazine Article, especially during these last 8 months!

November Magazine Article

MAC Dainty Blush:
Despite having so many blush shades available {both in stores and in my vanity}, I love how this looks great on everyone! It is a mineralized base and goes on lightly, allowing you to build color to accomplish the best light-pink, flushed cheek.
$28; MAC, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation:
While I own too many foundations to admit, I find myself reaching for this double-wear product whenever I need a long-lasting look. This color (Wheat) matches my skin perfectly, and the formula goes on so smoothly and doesn’t budge. $39; Sephora, Department Stores

Oribe Royal Blowout Heat Styling Spray:
I’ve been using this spray for a year, and I’m fully hooked. My hair feels softer, stronger, and smoother. It also cuts down blow drying time – worth every penny! $68; Amazon, Oribe, Birchbox

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara:
This mascara continues to give me the best volume and intense black, separated lashes. If you want your lashes to look full and curled, this is a must-try. $23; Ulta, Sephora, Too Faced

I Cannoli Wear OPI Nail Polish:
I found myself choosing this nail polish over and over each time I got a manicure this year. Described as a ‘pale, creamy grey’, I’m convinced this shade looks great on everyone and is the perfect neutral to go with everything! $7-10; Ulta, Amazon

Cheers to an amazing month ahead!

And of course this means Halloween is like 20 minutes away, so let’s discuss getting our costumes and masks ready! Unlike football, there’s no penalty for these face masks from this month’s Lifestyle Media Group Magazine Article – only rejuvenated skin!

October Beauty Magazine Article

MAC: It’s A Strike Collection

So I clearly have my fair share of makeup. Like more than the average bear. Ok, I have a lot of f-ing makeup and technically shouldn’t get another beauty item for the next decade. So I try to avoid falling weak when I see a new collection and buy the whole thing but when I saw MAC’s new It’s A Strike collection, I could’ve bought almost every item before even trying them on. I mean, look at these colors!

MAC It's a Strike

These shades have me so ready for Fall, I wanted to share my faves so you can share in my excitement and purchase your faves before they’re all sold out (and yes, they’re selling out, I actually have two more items that are coming in the mail because my local store was sold out of them). Some of the pieces in the collection are staple colors, just like many collections, so I tried to just focus on the limited shades.

Lipsticks
Perfect Score: Described as Deep Red, I was happy that it was a Matte finish as I usually prefer a matte look especially with a bold red lip. The color is rich, full of pigment, and was easy to apply evenly. And while I have more red lipsticks than I can count, as soon as I tried it on I knew I needed to add it to my collection. I like that it’s a deep red, different than a classic cherry red, but not completely dark like a brick red. I’m really excited to wear this during the upcoming seasons!

Perfect Score MAC Lipstick

Babes & Balls: This lipstick is exclusive to mac.com and is described as a Deep Burgundy. Again, was relieved it had a Matte finish and I’m SUCH a sucker for a berry lip. In my opinion, it’s the perfect shade for Fall and will totally complete an outfit of skinny jeans, booties, and long cardi. If you remember my obsession for ‘Fashion Revival‘, this is similar but a little darker and they’re both amazing!

Babes and Balls MAC Lipstick

Cremesheen Lip Gloss
It’s A Strike: Typically I don’t gravitate towards glosses since lipsticks excite me more, but I was definitely drawn to this one which is described as a Soft Nude Pink, but I actually think it’s almost more of a soft nude mauve, which I really like. I think it’ll be perfect worn alone for subtle color and shine and probably will also look amazing worn over my favorite light pinks/nudes/mauves (Please Me, Angel, Lovelorn, Captive..to name a few).

It's A Strike MAC Cremesheen

Eye Shadow
300 Game: This is described as Blackened Cherry and is as pigmented as all of MAC’s other shadows and I loved again how different it is than other shades you see and probably own.

300 Game MAC Eye Shadow

Bowl Out: This shadow is described as a Midtone Grey and while I decided not to purchase it because I had to make sure my husband wouldn’t leave or kill me, I wanted to just note how pretty this shadow really is! While it may be a little similar to other shades you’ve seen (because it’s so pretty and versatile), I love the pigmented color and really like that it’s matte. You can mix it with anything and it would look great…and I’m currently regretting not buying it, sigh.

Bowl Out MAC Eye Shadow

Face Powder/Highlighter
Trophy: This is described as a Pearlmatte Face Powder and I’m pretty sure the packaging sells itself. But once you stop smiling over the bowling pin and ball design, you’ll see how gorgeous – and different this highlighter is. I like that it gives off a subtle pinky blush/white highlight, which sounds weird but once you blend and buff (and blend again because the white dominates), you’ll see how beautiful this powder looks!

Trophy MAC Face Powder

Lip & Cheek Colour
Blind Score: Described as a Dirty Red Lilac, I was completely intrigued by this cream cheek and lip colour as soon as I saw it. I loved that it was completely different than other blush shades I have and that I could wear it on my lips as well. I have a feeling this will compliment any plum and berry lipstick when worn as a blush for a perfect monochromatic look. Just use sparingly and build, especially so it doesn’t remove any of your face makeup.

Blind Score MAC Cheek & Lip Colour

Nail Polish
5 Pin: There’s not much to say about this nail polish, which is described as a Deep Wine, except that it is the PERFECT polish for Fall. Period.

5 Pin MAC Nail Lacquer

So now you’re biggest decision of the weekend is what are you going to buy?!

Xo,
Leah
