October Ambiance

Holy October!  Can you believe it’s here already?  I absolutely love this time of year with Fall upon us and Halloween around the corner!   While living in South Florida, it may not look it outside but thanks to these amazing decor pieces we can at least try to make it look it inside!

Emmy Fashion Recap

I wanted to go over some of my favorite and least favorite looks from this past Sunday’s Emmy awards before all the mags come out and we get sick of seeing the same photos over and over.  The best part about fashion is how subjective it is.  Some of my favorites may be your least favorites, vice versa.  The only thing that isn’t subjective is how hot Matt Damon always looks in a tux.  Damn.

Here were some of the looks I loved…

allison-williams

Allison Williams in Ralph Lauren.  I’m so beyond obsessed with her and I think she’s flawless to begin with and this look was perfection.

claire danes

Claire Danes in Armani Prive.  While some may hate this dress, I happened to love it.  While it could be higher cut, I think it was truly flattering on her body which of course includes a small bust.  I thought her hair and makeup complimented it perfectly.  And I love the back.  Ok, I’m done making my argument to those who put this on their worst dressed list.

michelle-dockery

Michelle Dockery in a two-tone Prada gown.  I think these two shades together are simply stunning and I love the bow in the back with her dark bob.  I also loooved her clutch as well as the hem of the gown.

sofia-vergara

Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang.  Sofia looked like a Columbian Jessica Rabbit in this red lace gown that complimented her twins and figure.  Big shocker!  She knows how how to dress for her body and she does it well.  Also, the emerald jewelry is amaze!

christina-hendricks

Christina Hendricks in Christian Siriano.  Christina has two huge assets to work with and I think she worked them the best she ever has before!  She looked stunning and her hair and makeup complimented it perfectly.  So glamorous!

elisabeth-moss

So black and white was a huge trend on the carpet this year.  I loved Cat Deeley’s all black cut out Armani gown (looked better live as opposed to photographed in my opinion) and Kate Mara’s futuristic all white J. Mendel gown was certainly a fun, fresh look, but Elisabeth Moss rocked both black and white best in her Andrew Gn gown, especially with her blonde pixie cut and red lip.

Here were some of the looks I loathed…

kerry-washington

Kerry Washington in Marchesa.  Ok, don’t freak…I know this look is probably many people’s fav but I just wasn’t digging it.  Kerry Washington can usually do no wrong.  Hell, she was just named World’s Best Dressed Woman., but this is what she shows up in?  There was too much going on and I never thought I’d see her in a dress that didn’t flatter her figure appropriately.

anna-faris

Anna Faris in Monique Lhuillier.  Anna is actually on my ‘Worst’ list because of her overall look, not the dress itself.  I haaaated her hair and when watching live coverage her makeup looked awful waffle in close ups.  Perhaps she needs some better primer and foundation…?

zosia-mamet

Zosia Mamet in a “custom made” Honor gown.  Oddly enough this dress was seen on the runway, thus not actually custom, hmm.  Anywho, I don’t love the length and I clearly don’t love the awkward leather mask on her boobs, but I did love the watercolor look.  Oh Shosh…

january-jones

January Jones in Givenchy.  This dress just doesn’t do it for me.  I hated the cut of the bust and thought it was an overall snooze-fest.  But then again I’m not exactly a huge fan of January’s.

Which was the best/worst looks in your opinion?

Cosmetic Case of the Mondays

Hi everyone!

I hope you had an amazing weekend!  Mine was kicked off on Friday with the honor of attending the bris of Baby Ethan, whom I shared with you last week is one of my best friend’s newborn son).  I was then surprised by my Work Wife with an incredible send-off by some of our friends from my office, as my last day before maternity leave is this Friday, ahh!  I’m so lucky to have such incredible friends in my life!

Anywho, like many of you I was glued to my TV last night because of the Emmys and while watching the pre-show coverage on E! I was checking out all the gorgeous nails via their mani-cam.  Guiliana Rancic’s nude shade caught my eye and I was so thankful when she actually announced that she was wearing Covergirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Always Naked polish, as opposed to me just having to wonder what color she was wearing.  I got even more excited when Sofia Vergara said she too was wearing that exact polish!  The shade looked great on both of them and appeared to be the perfect nude that will go with anything!

Always Naked

I can’t wait to run to a drugstore and try it out myself!  I’m a bit curious as I realize it looks like much more of a brown than a nude in the photo so I’ll be sure to keep you posted!

Fashion Friday

My friend was sporting the coolest and hippest soft pants I’ve seen in a long time, Joie’s Mariner Cropped Pants.  Since I’ve seen her sporting them, I’m been obsessed with buying a pair (hoping to have some new items to look forward to wearing post-belly) to wear with some hot pointy toe pumps.

Joie Mariner

Luckily I also found a less expensive look-alike, Hive & Honey’s Margo Slouchy Pants from Piperlime (don’t forget to use your 20% promo code if you received one in the mail!).

Hive & Honey Margo

*Please note: Not sure why these websites are styling both pants with the fugliest shoes ever.  Don’t blame it on the pants, it’s not their fault.

What are your thoughts on the look?  Would you splurge or save?

Have a great weekend!

Sephora Favorites Super Stars

No, this is not Groundhog Day and no, you’re not having deja vu.  I am consciously blogging about the same thing I blogged about yesterday.  Why you ask, because the new Sephora Favorites Super Stars set is truly amazeballs and I figured it didn’t hurt to reiterate how great of a deal it is.

Now I don’t mean to sound so flippant when I say the set is “only $75″.  I realize that is way more than most people probably spend on makeup and beauty products.  I just think if there was ever a time to splurge, this would be the time – especially since Sephora lists it as a $280 value!  Even though I’ve already broken down everything that is included in the set, I figured I’d also break down some of the cost savings.  Here are some of my fav products included and how much just they alone would cost if purchased individually:

super stars

1.7 oz Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray: A product that I’ve already expressed in the past that I love.  The travel size is included which retails for $15

.50 oz Deborah Lippmann Glitter Nail Polish in Cleopatra in New York: Haven’t tried this yet, but love the look!  Since it’s a full size, the bottle is typically $19

.50 oz Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil: You can use this oil for so many different things and this travel size is regularly $14

.12 oz NARS Lipstick in Dolce Vita: This full size lipstick looks beyond flattering and retails for $26

1.0 oz Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 35 in Light: While I feel like they should have included a more universal shade, the fact that they included the full size bottle for $39 is muy impressive!

.016 oz Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner: Such a great liquid liner with a marker-like tip (very easy to use!) and this full size liner retails for $20

.33 oz Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Rollerball: This was actually on my shopping list as I was hoping to buy a new one to pack with me for my hospital labor bag, which would cost me $29

Here are just seven of the twelve-piece set and already all of the products mentioned above is purchased alone would cost $162.  So even if let’s say I didn’t love every single piece in the set, it was still a huuuge cost savings.  Plus, this gives you a chance to try out some items that you typically made not have tried and either you’ll like or you can pass on to friends and family – a true win, win!

Don’t regret it – purchase yours today!
