Now is the time to hit the reset button and start over, including your beauty regimen. Step outside of your comfort zone and try some new things this year. It’s all about feeling good and here are my top picks from the Lifestyle Media Group Magazine Article this month to help you do so:

Beauty Magazine Article January 2016

Becca x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Champagne PopThe holidays may be over, but we can keep the champagne flowing with this beautiful, limited-edition shade highlighter! Becca highlighters are some of the best on the market, but when they teamed up with makeup artist and YouTube Beauty Celebrity Jaclyn Hill, they made the perfect champagne shade skin illuminator. Tip: It’s heavily pigmented so a little goes a long way, but swipe across cheekbones, on the bridge of your nose, inside your eyes, and even on your cupid’s bow. $38; Sephora

Caudalie Instant Detox Mask: After all of those late night holiday parties and cocktails, I’m sure we could all use a little detox! This mask removes accumulated toxins from clogged pores to revitalize complexions. It brings life to tired skin as well as clarifies and is true rehab for our faces! $39; Sephora, Nordstrom, and Birchbox

Charlotte Tilbury Mini Miracle Eye WandDo you eyes show that you’ve been up past midnight? Let’s hide that with this Miracle Wand, which creates the appearance of 8 hours of sleep in just two clicks. Available in 5 shades, it covers dark circles and lines, smoothes out bags, and brightens and hydrates the skin for a dewy finish. $45; Nordstrom and www.charlottetilbury.com

LUSH Frozen Bath Bomb: Make one of your resolutions be to pamper yourself and what better way than with a relaxing bath? Don’t let the kids have all the Frozen fun and with this bath bomb you’ll be able to “let it go” and melt away all of your stress.
$8.95; LUSH stores and www.lushusa.com

NARS Audacious LipstickKeep that midnight kiss going with this longwear lipstick from NARS! After coming out last year, these have quickly become some of my absolute favorite lipsticks as they are long-lasting, non-drying, and so rich in pigment that one stroke provides the perfect color. And the magnetic closing cap is genius, never again will you get lipstick all over the inside of your purse from the cap coming off! I especially love the shades Audrey (Red Currant), Vivien (Red Plum), and Anna (Smokey Rose).
$32; Department stores and www.narscosmetics.com

Cheers to an amazing year ahead!

That Time I Interviewed Rebecca Minkoff…

So a couple of weeks ago I had the ABSOLUTE pleasure of not only meeting the uber famous and talented designer Rebecca Minkoff at Bloomingdales, but also had the privilege of interviewing her for this silly ole’ blog of mine. She was sweet, professional, beautiful, and oh wait, she’s only 34! With only 4 years on me, she’s built an incredibly successful brand, hell, she’s build an entire empire. And all the while she’s also a wife and mom of two. How unaccomplished did I feel while left in complete awe of her? The answer: very unaccomplished. But talk about a role model!

Rebecca Minkoff in Bloomingdales

You got your first big break after designing a hit ‘I Love New York’ t-shirt, but of course became a household fashion name after designing the iconic Morning After Bag, why did you choose to focus on handbags?

I think that it was largely due to the fact that there was an intensity behind the bag that the clothing lines never have had and so I know with that heat and that excitement that there was something to hitch my wagon to and that I would get back to clothing when we could do it properly.

Who was the first celebrity you saw wearing one of your designs?

At the time, Lindsey Lohan and Lauren Conrad were style icons so they catapulted us which was in 2005. Anything either one of them wore would just sell out. It was surreal, but I worked my butt off to get them those bags. It was a series of who knows her, how can I meet up, she’s walking through this hotel…I’m passing her the bag.

What are three items every woman should own?

1. A really great leather jacket  2. A Rebecca Minkoff crossbody  3. A pair of booties

What do you do or wear to feel confident?

A leather jacket, booties, and a tight pair of jeans.

You now have a complete line including handbags, clothing, shoes, and accessories. What’s next?

Our next large focus is our retail stores and really building those out, especially internationally. It’s where we can really be as direct as you can be.

You are married with two children, how do you balance work and your family? I just have a toddler and I was running 10 minutes late!

I say there’s no such thing as balance, it’s just juggling. I know where I’m comfortable, and I know where I need to say no. I try to be home at least three nights during the week and if I can’t be, then I take a morning off. I regularly walk my kids to school so I don’t start my mornings at work until 9:30a. And I let that be true for my staff as well; I don’t have any privileges that I wouldn’t let someone else have. My husband also travels a lot for business too, but we make sure one of us is always home.

What continues to inspire you?

Meeting my customers, travel, and I love everything vintage. And it’s not just me, I have a great team.

What is your go-to, everyday bag?

Currently it’s our Star Perforated Bucket Bag in black, I wear a lot of black!

And here are some of my current faves from her line:

Rebecca Minkoff Tote

Mini Lexi Bucket Bag

Micro Lexi Bucket Bag

Derek Lam Interview

The other week I had the privilege of not only meeting mega fashion designer Derek Lam, but I was able to sit down with him and fire off some q’s. He was in town hosting an event and fashion show at Neiman Marcus in Boca Raton, promoting his full Derek Lam 10 Crosby Collection (which is beyond ridiculous, btw!), and agreed to chat with me prior to the event. I have to admit I was a bit nervous/intimidated to meet him, wishing I was wearing his designs head-to-toe but instead in a top and pants from Forever 21 {awesome}, but once I was greeted by him in a large dressing room with popcorn and Swedish Fish on an end table, I knew we’d hit it off. Oh, not to mention he’s maybe the sweetest and most humble human being ever.

Derek Lam & Live Love Lipstick

So what could I ask this super talented, super famous, super successful designer that he hasn’t heard a million times before and that you all would want to know? Well here goes nothing…

You grew up around clothing and bridal gowns, did you always know you wanted to be in the industry?

No, actually I think because I think it was a family endeavor, and I grew up around it as a really young child, I wanted to do something different. So I went to study English and History and then I decided I want to go into Arts so I studied Art before I studied Fashion.

If you weren’t a designer today, what would you be doing?

When I was studying English, I wanted to be a writer, especially critical writing. I would love to be a critic, not necessarily of fashion, but of culture maybe. I love the process of writing.

Besides your own of course, who is your favorite designer today?

There are so many right now that are so interesting. I think that’s what is exciting about the landscaping right now; there’s not one trend, there’s not one designer. Everybody’s doing their own thing. I’m really into the more intellectual designers because I can see a different perspective than what I do, I do my work much more emotional.

What 3 things should every woman own in her closet?

A great flair cut jean – it actually flatters any body type and height, an easy kimono jacket, and a beautiful blouse.

Fill in the blank: You can never have enough _____.

Sunshine.

You have worked with Michal Kors, Tod’s, and of course your own label, what has been the most exciting moment in your career?

I think it has yet to come! We have some interesting things happening within the year. And I think with every new step we’ve taken, whether it’s starting a new collection, my collaboration with Tod’s, and my collaboration with Athleta which has been really successful, it’s always been my search to go beyond just one category and to show just one point of view, it’s really to talk about lifestyle. So when I do something that’s lifestyle oriented and there’s a positive response, it just reinforces that I could go further.

Many top designers are teaming up with companies such as Target and H&M, making items more affordable, what’s your take on it? Who would be your ideal collaboration?

The price points are amazing at Athleta! The point of view there was to contribute to elevating athletic workout wear and providing unexpected layers that allows you to wear your clothing that you’ve gone to exercise in, out to lunch and not feel like you look like it. I think we see a lot of people that wear athletic wear 24/7 and I wanted to provide other elements that you could work in. We’re essentially making it an extension of American Sports Wear, which in the past was inspired by traditional sports, tennis, riding. But with Athleta, it’s still about the lifestyle, but instead of jumping on a horse, you’re jumping on your Soul Cycle.

My ideal collaborator would be someone in jewelry. I’m always on the lookout of who I can collaborate with and would love to get more involved in that.

So there you have it! And here you have some of my favorite pieces from the Derek Lam 10 Crosby collection from Neiman Marcus:

December Magazine Article

With the holidays upon us, there are gifts purchase, soirees to attend, and Champagne to sip. In this month’s Lifestyle Media Group Magazine Article, I’ve asked some of the top local beauty experts for their picks on which must-have beauty products you should incorporate into your holiday look!

December Magazine Article

1. Rachel Shapiro, Professional Makeup Artist, Delray Beach/Boca Raton, info@rachelsbrides.com

MAC Prep+Prime Highlighter: This is by far the one product I believe every woman needs. Apply alone or over concealer for the perfect holiday glow. There are four shades available, but I swear ‘Bright Forecast’ works for everyone and is my personal favorite. $26; MAC Cosmetics and department stores

2. Natalie Gee, Owner of Gee Beauty, Bal Harbour Shops

Dr. Sebagh Deep Exfoliating Mask & Dr. Sebagh Luminous Glow: I love the combination of exfoliation plus hydration; it’s the key to a bright, gorgeous glow and will give you camera-ready skin. I leave the mask on for 15 minutes, wash with warm water, and follow with the cream for instant luminosity. My foundation then goes on smoothly. $173, $155; Gee Beauty and www.geebeauty.com

3. Erica Russo, Bloomingdale’s Fashion Director of Beauty

Bobbi Brown Deluxe Cheek & Eye Palette, Holiday Giving Collection: I’m loving the current bold eye trend and the holidays are the perfect time to experiment with color. This product is great because you can choose from matte to shiny shades in some the season’s most flattering tones. $85; Bloomingdales and bloomingdales.com

4. Nathalie Helene, Hair & Makeup Artist, Ft. Lauderdale/Miami, NathalieHelene@hotmail.com

Diamond Oil Glow Dry by Redken: It’s the best serum for blowout perfection. The smell is absolutely intoxicating, and a little goes a long way. I like to use it on damp hair before I blow-dry and a tiny bit after.  It’s weightless and makes my hair feel so soft and uber-shiny. I also like to put some on my shoulders and arms for a little glow – no pasty holiday pictures! $32; Ulta and Amazon

5. Leah Moskowitz, Beauty Blogger, www.livelovelipstick (aka my pick!):

Christian Louboutin Rouge Louboutin Velvet Matte LipstickThere’s nothing like a great red lip for the holiday season. Christian Louboutin has created possibly the most stunning lipstick tube ever, which also doubles as a necklace. You won’t want to attend a party without it! $90; Sephora and department stores (If purchasing online, this hot item is either backordered or sold out, except for Saks – buy now!)

Cheers to looking and feeling fabulous this holiday season!
