July Article

July is here and it’s time to fire up the grill! Get yourself prepped for barbeques, vacations, and doing your best not to melt outside! Here are my patriotic picks for the month from my July article in the Lifestyle Media Group Magazines. July Article for blog :

Rosebud Perfume Co. Strawberry Lip Balm: This cult classic lip balm has been a favorite of mine for nearly a decade. You couldn’t ask for a more moisturizing and deliciously smelling lap balm, in a travel friendly vintage tin. ($7, Sephora)

Glamglow Thirstycleanse Daily Hydrating Cleanser: I know I’ve written about the original Glamglow Supercleanse Cleanser before, but I love this new Hydrating Cleanser! This Mud to Foam cleanser is your answer to dry and dehydrated skin that is ok to use every day if desired. ($39, Sephora)

Essie Marshmallow; Lacquered Up; and Butler Please: These nail polish colors are some of my favorites to get me in the summer spirit! Choose just one or mix them up for a holiday party! ($5-9, Amazon and drugstores)

Living Proof No Frizz Humidity Shield: This spray is the answer to all of our South Florida problems; it’s a weightless solution to dry hair that provides six times more humidity protection. It prevents frizz and flyaways – without the build up. ($22; Sephora)

Island Company SPF 6 Lotion: Don’t forget the SPF even when you’re not laying by the pol and this lotion is light enough to wear everyday under clothes and smells so good that you’ll be tempted to skip the perfume.  Higher SPFs available as well. ($20, www.islandcompay.com)

Dior Diorshow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum: This is primer for your lashes that helps lengthen and condition and I don’t dare apply my mascara without it, period. It’s one of my all-time beauty must-haves! ($28.50, Sephora and department stores)

Cheers to a great month!

“In most Naked palettes, there is an undercurrent running through,” explains founder Wende Zomnir. “Naked 1 was a bit more bronze-y, Naked 2 was more taupe-y, and Naked 3 was warm and rosy neutrals. [With] Naked Smoky, you have a range of neutrals — your basic matte shades, and then a mini collection of bronze, a mini collection of taupe, a mini collection of grays and blacks, and then this one eggplant. It’s a variety of color families you can dip into.”

So who’s counting down to July 8th with me? Aren’t a fan of the previous palettes yet? Shop them here today! Naked Palette, Naked 2, Naked 3

June Magazine Article

It’s June already (can you believe it?!) which means it’s officially Summer (despite the temperatures we’ve already been feeling for months)! So before it becomes unbearably hot and we start experiencing our daily thunderstorms, take advantage of living where others vacation and have fun in the sun! Or, you could use the following items and just pretend to, while still sipping a Pina Colada of course! Here are some of my favorite products for the month which are included in my article for South Florida Magazine Article, including some gift ideas for Dad!

June Article for blog

St Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse: If you don’t have time to actually soak up the sun or you’d like base color before going public in your bathing suit, fake the color with self-tanner! With so many on the market you want to make sure you get a quality product so you’re not just covering up your pale thighs with orange streaks. I love this whole line, but especially this mousse, and if you need color on the double, try the new Express Bronzing Mousse. ($18-44; www.sttropeztan.com and Ulta)

Comptoir Sud Pacifique Perfumes: I love to wear a fresh, island scent during the summer months and this brand’s scent collection has been my favorite for years, specifically the Vanille Coco and the Vanille Abricot. They’re available in both a spray and a rollerball, perfect for throwing in your beach bag. ($32, $20; Sephora and Nordstrom)

Aloha from OPI Nail Polish: If you’re like me and wear certain colors of polish depending on the season, this is the perfect summer red. It’s described as a creamy coral red and will get you in the island spirit even if you’re just saying aloha from the South Florida beaches. ($5-9, Amazon and drugstores)

Bleu de Chanel: With Father’s Day this month, don’t forget the items for the men in your life! This is by far my absolute favorite men’s cologne and I love that it’s also available in a refillable travel spray ($75) as well as an after shave lotion ($55), both of which would make the perfect gift! ($70-122; Sephora and department stores)

Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm SPF 25: It’s important to protect your guys skin from the sun just as much as it is yours and while he’s out in the sun make sure he uses this Jack Black lip balm to protect his pucker! It’s available in five scents, including Original, and will relieve dry and irritated lips, as well as block the rays. ($7.50; Ulta and department stores)

Billy Jealousy Hydroplane Super-Slick Shave Cream: Unlike me, my husband is not a huge fan of products but this shaving cream is his constant go-to. He loves how smooth of a shave he gets with it and it doesn’t irritate his super sensitive skin. Plus he’s in good company as Esquire named it Best Shave Cream! ($20; www.billyjealousy.com, Ulta)

Cheers to a great month!

May Magazine Article

If only April showers brought May flowers, instead of just more showers in South Florida. Here are my top picks for the month from my article in the South Florida Lifestyle Magazines, any of which would make a great gift or just a treat for yourself, don’t forget Mother’s Day is the 10th!

May Article for blog

Smashbox Photo Angle Pure Pigment Gel Liner: I absolutely love a rich gel liner for a dramatic look and prefer an angled tip as it makes it much easier to apply, whether creating a thick or thin line. This offers 36 hours of wear so it’s sure not to smudge and it supposedly doesn’t clump as opposed to similar products by other brands. While I usually opt for classic black, this comes in six colors! ($24, Sephora and Nordstrom)

Dior Rosy Glow Blush: This wonder product is a universal color for everyone, yes, one shade for everyone! While it may seem too bright for your taste, one swipe of this blush adjusts to your skin to create the look of a naturally flushed cheek. It is also buildable for you to create as subtle or as dramatic of a look that you would like. ($44, department stores)

Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil: Wouldn’t you love to go to sleep and wake up with firmer and glowing skin? Made up of organic, cold pressed oils this new night treatment reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles and corrects damage caused by the sun, time, and pollution. Use this before bed and wake your skin up with the cult classic Good Genes Treatment in the morning for an instant radiance boost. ($105, Sephora)

Too Faced Melted Lipsticks: As the weather heats up, it’s only fitting to use a “melted lipstick”. This product has the shine of a gloss, the long wear of a stain, and the pigment of a lipstick, all in one! My favorite colors include Strawberry, Candy, and Berry. Tip: Apply with a lipstick brush or wand as I think the applicator can get pretty messy. ($21, Ulta)

Boscia Exfoliating Peel Gel: This gel supposedly gives you the benefits of a peel, but without the harsh side effects, which is what terrifies me about peels! You instantly feel the dead skin lifting as you massage it into your skin, exfoliating it all away leaving your skin smoother, softer, and brighter looking after a single use. ($34, Sephora)

Cheers to a great month!

Cosmetic Case of the Mondays

I hope everyone had a great weekend! The weather was absolutely beautiful this weekend and I took as much advantage as I could!

With us being in May now and the temperature finally warming up throughout the country, I’m all about that glow! In addition to using highlighters (see below for some of my faves), I’m now really into using a luminous foundation to start and I’m currently obsessed with the following:

nars luminous weightless found

NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation (Splurge): Available in 20 shades (I use Barcelona), this light foundation feels like silk on my skin! It’s full coverage but since it’s so silky feeling, it’s still a very natural look. That’s what makes this foundation so different than others, aka the shit, because it’s able to provide the full coverage in a long-wear formula (up to 16 hours!) so you can achieve the complete coverage without looking like it’s caked on. Just make sure you shake the bottle before applying.

maybelline dewy

Maybelline Fit Me! Dewy + Smooth Foundation (Save): Available in 16 shades (I use 220 – Natural Buff), this drug store foundation also feels like amazing (and affordable) silk on my skin. It hydrates, moisturizes, and makes skin look smooth all while giving a natural look. It’s great for dry skin and gives a dewy finish as opposed to exaggerating dry patches like some other foundations. It also contains SPF 18.

Tip: If neither foundation offers as full of coverage as you want because it’s of the lightweight formulas, try applying these over another foundation of your choice. I’m currently pairing these over the MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation (I use NW25) at night.

Looking for a new highlighter? I love this MAC Prep + Prime pen in Bright Forecast, this Givenchy Mister Light pen in Mister Macaroon, and of course the cult classic YSL Touche Eclat pen in 2.5 Luminous Vanilla. And I also like using The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer Luminizing Powder and dying to get my hands on the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette.

Cheers to a great week!

Leah

April Magazine Article

So it may be April 30th (cue the Justin Timberlake “It’s Gonna Be May” memes) and I’ve totally slacked this month in the blogging world, but here are my top picks for the month of April from my Lifestyle Magazine article (and good news, I’ll be rocking these products for quite some time):

April Column for blog

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation: If you want to treat your skin for a night out with the perfect foundation, this is the one to use!  This award-winning foundation offers a silky, all-day buildable coverage, perfect for every skin tone! Tip: Treat yourself to the ultimate brush as well with Kevyn Aucoin’s Foundation Brush ($62, department stores and now available at Sephora)

Pevonia Botanica Vitaminic Concentrate: Serums are all the rage right now in skincare so if one isn’t currently in your daily regimen, it should be! I love this one because it helps with dryness, dehydration and premature aging. So it basically offers everything I need in one! Apply 3 to 5 drops prior moisturizer on your face and neck up to twice a day. ($44, www.pevonia.com and Amazon)

Body of Royalty Lipstick: I recently learned about the brand Body of Royalty and I am loving their line of lipsticks, all of which are created by two makeup artists and made in America. Body of Royalty is a beauty brand created for women that want to feel and look like royalty. From nudes, to bright pinks and purples, and classic reds, Body of Royalty has a shade for every occasion, but my personal favorite is ‘Scandal’, a gorgeous berry. ($14.99, www.bodyofroyalty.com)

Oribe Royal Blowout: To help battle “April showers”, I’ll be using this hair product, which is one of my all time favorites! This styling spray offers heat protection, repairs split ends, and speeds up drying time for a smooth finish to achieve the perfect blowout. ($64, Birchbox and department stores)

Clarisonic Smart Profile: I am dying to try the newest device from the fan favorite line, as I’m already a big fan of the original Mia. Smart Profile is 11x better than washing with your hands alone and contains SMART technology, which automatically adjusts between gentle and deep cleaning. It has 4 speeds for your face and body and will even notify you when to replace with a new brush head – talk about smart! ($265, Clarisonic, department stores, and Sephora)

Cheers to a great, err…Hope you had a great month!

Leah
