Dylan’s Candy Bar: Mean Girls Collection

As you know, I love it when my worlds collide. When my love for two completely different things join forces. It tickles me and it’s happened again. Dylan’s Candy Bar has come out with a Mean Girls collection. So.freaking.fetch.

The items would make the perfect gift for anyone who’s both a fan of the movie and who has a love for sweets. Which if you think about it should be every single person you’re friends with and if someone doesn’t fit into both categories you should highly reconsider your friendship. “You may think you life someone, but…you could be wrong.”

Here are my faves!

MAC Haute Dogs Collection

Happy Friday everyone!

MAC’s brand new collection, Haute Dogs, hit stores yesterday and I can say that I was really pleased over the new, limited products! Maybe a little too pleased, went a little overboard…oops!

MAC Haute Dogs Collection

So here’s what I purchased:

MAC Haute Dogs Lipsticks

Fashion Pack, Nose For Style, and Labradorable Mineralize Lipsticks (Pictured left to right): This pale pink nude, deep claret red, and deep wine are now going to be my new shades for Fall! I’m already a huge fan of the brand’s mineralize lipstick because of how smooth they go on and how long of a wear they are. Happy to see new shades!

MAC Haute Dogs Lipglass

Sheer Coincidence Mineralize Lipglass: I typically wouldn’t give much attention to lip gloss as I prefer a lipstick instead (clearly!), but after testing out the previously mentioned Fashion Pack nude lipstick, I applied a little of this gloss over it and I went from just liking the lipstick to loving it! The thing I love about the mineralize lipglass compared to original lipglass is they’re not nearlyyyy as sticky, ick.

MAC Haute Dogs Eyeshadow Quad

Pure Breed Mineralize Eyeshadow Quad: While the other quad in the collection (Posh Pedigree, which includes an olive and grey hues), was nice I fell in love with this quad which features a plum, silver cream, tan gold, and deep brown shades. The colors are beautiful and different from anything I already owned.

MAC Haute Dogs Contour

Shadester Sculpting Powder & Lightsweep Shaping Powder: While I already own (and love) many other contour products, these totally caught my attention. I love that I can contour and highlight without any shimmer whatsoever, perfect for Fall!

161 Duo Fibre Face Glider Brush: This mixed-fibre angled brush is perfect for applying the contour and highlight powder mentioned above. Use the bottom portion of the brush to contour and then the entire brush to highlight.

Be sure to check these out ASAP before they’re all sold out!

Cheers to a great weekend!

Sedu Straightener Sale!

I hope everyone had an amazing weekend! Mine was spent with friends and family, eating, watching movies, and dealing with two-year-old molars. Fun! (Heavy sarcasm on the last part.) Just one more week until my little guy officially starts Preschool, eek! I know you’re thinking that I’m probably freaking out and crying all day that my baby’s growing up, but truth is since he was already in camp I’m kind of dying for him to start school (…says worst mother ever.) It’s just that without it, the days are loooong and the naps seem short. Oh yea, and it’s 900 degrees outside. C’mon fellow moms, I know I’m not the only one!

Moving right along…

Sedu Revolution Diamond Styling Iron

So back in May, I wrote about a Sedu Straightener sale on Folica.com (read here in case you missed it) and since then I’ve had a lot of people inquire about the flat iron and I have great news – Folica put it on sale again! Now through Tuesday, you can purchase the best-selling and my personal favorite flat iron, the Sedu Revolution Diamond Styling Iron 1” (originally $200) for only $90!! Take advantage and buy it now here before you regret it!

August Magazine Article

So I’ll say the same thing I say every month, can you believe it’s already [insert new month]?! I know I sound like Pinky and The Brain, but it’s true! How the hell are we in August already?? My son is in his last week of camp and he’ll be starting “official” preschool this month, sigh. As I sing Back to School Again from Grease 2 in my head and try not to cry…

No matter how old I got, I always got tickled when purchasing back-to-school supplies! The excitement of fresh markers, folders, and of course a planner always got me going. Even though I’m no longer in school, here are my A+ picks for my “Beauty Back-to-School” supplies from the Lifestyle Media Group Magazine Article.

August Magazine Article Beauty Supplies

1. Urban Decay Naked Smoky: Consider this highly anticipated new palette your fresh box of crayons for the school year, containing all of the hottest colors to achieve any degree of smoky eye you want! The fourth Naked palette contains 12 neutral, but dramatic, eye shadows, a dual-end brush, as well as a step-by-step instruction guide to help you create four different looks. ($54, Sephora, Ulta, and www.urbandecay.com)

2. NARS Pencil Sharpener: When was the last time you bought yourself a new sharpener for your eye and lip liners? If you’re due for one this one is the top of its class with a dual blade sharpener designed for every size pencil. It also features a blade cleaner and a cover on top to collect your shavings. ($6, Sephora, department stores, and www.narscosmetics.com)

3. The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer Highlighter: This luminizing powder is one of my absolute favorites. Since we’re still in Summer and definitely still feeling the heat, keep that glow going by applying some on your cheekbones, on the bridge of your nose, and under your lash line. I’ll even use it as an eye shadow! ($24, Amazon and www.birchbox.com)

4. MAC Oval 6 Brush: As I always preach, to get the best results from your makeup you need the best supplies, aka brushes! This is one of my new favorites because of how easily it blends your face makeup, including foundation, powder, or blush. It’s even great to use when contouring! ($42, departments stores and www.maccosmetics.com)

5. Dermarie Lumitox Anti-aging Facial Serum: To get yourself ready for those early mornings whether it’s going to school, work, or hitting the carpool line, check out this new serum that works like Botox to reverse and prevent facial lines and forehead wrinkles. Best part (besides the packaging) – for the month of August, Dermarie is offering 30% off to all of my readers with promo code LEAH30. ($68, www.dermarie.com)

6. The Makeup Eraser: This is the ultimate eraser, but for your face! This wonder cloth removes all of your makeup, including waterproof, with just warm water! It’s machine washable, doesn’t stain, and lasts up to 1,000 washes.  If only it could also erase dark circles… ($20, Sephora and Amazon)

Have a great month and new school year!

National Lipstick Day!

Happy National Lipstick Day everyone!

How is their work and camp today? How are the banks open? How is their mail? Wait, I take that back, I’m always happy when there’s mail and packages to be delivered! But still, how are we not all outside singing and dancing in the streets to celebrate such a joyous occasion? Someone stock the bar, I’ll create the playlist…

It just so happens that I FINALLY organized all of my makeup over this past weekend, and just in time for the holiday! I’m obsessed with these acrylic organizers that I got at The Container Store and I will certainly share with you all my new and improved, and extremely organized vanity, but for now I figured I’d share this pic of most of my lipsticks. Keyword being “most”.

Organized Lipstick Collection

As well as my Top 10 Favorite Lipsticks! {Dave Letterman should probably come out of retirement tonight to do the same.}

And remember, lipsticks are the perfect way to have fun and add a pop of color to an outfit. Even if these colors seem out of your comfort zone, try them! You’ll either hate it, laugh at yourself, and wipe it off or surprise yourself and love it!

Top 10 Lipsticks

As you can see, there’s a good mix of pinks, nudes, reds, and darks. And yes, I kind of like MAC lipsticks…

1. MAC Lickable

2. MAC Mineralize Lush Life

3. MAC Studded Kiss

4. NARS Audacious Anna

5. MAC Russian Red, aka my all-time favorite red!!

6. NARS Audacious Vera

7. MAC Rebel

8. MAC Please Me

9. MAC Vegas Volt

10. MAC Peach Blossom

Side note: I’m sure this list will change in another couple weeks when I fall in love with yet another color.

Have a great National Lipstick Day!

Leah

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: My Top Beauty Picks

Happy Friday!!

By now, I’m sure you all know that Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale is open to the public, woop woop! If you follow a lot of bloggers, I’m sure you’ve seen a lot of the clothing that’s on sale, but in case you aren’t aware of the beauty items that are currently discounted then allow me!

Nordstrom Sale Beauty Products

Tom Ford Lips & Boys Lipstick Set: I’m a big fan of these lipsticks as they are so rich in color and give off such a luxe look, but since they’re typically more pricey I don’t have as big of a collection as I would like. Now’s our chance!
Deets: $96, featuring Flynn, Giacomo, and Alejandro.

Glamglow Glamazing Set: It’s no secret I’m a HUGE fan of this brand! I love the products and I feel like they’re pretty reasonably priced, compare to other more expensive skincare lines. But hey, not going to complain about this amazing set’s price point!
Deets: $69, the set includes Brightmud Eye Treatment (3 at 0.03 oz. each) which brightens and hydrates your eyes while minimizing puffiness, dark circles and all signs of aging, Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatment (0.53 oz.) which is a facial in a jar that reduces fine lines and wrinkles while leaving skin smoother and brighter, Thirstymud Hydrating Treatment (1.8 oz.) which is a treatment that moisturizes, restores, calms your skin, leaving you with a dewy, youthful look. $99 value.

Sultra Bombshell 1 inch Curling Iron: Since I’m still a spaz and can’t use a traditional curling iron for the life of me, I resort to a clip-less curling iron. While I don’t own this particular one, I’ve heard such great things about it that it almost makes me want to get it (which should say something considering I already own two other clip-less curling irons), and with this price reduction it’s really tempting me…
Deets: $99, 1.5 inch clip-less curling iron, auto shut-off (best feature!), two-year warranty, includes glove and heating pad. $130.00 after sale.

Rebecca Minkoff Erin – Beauty Essentials #nofilter Pouch: Throw all of your new goodies into this adorable pouch! I have one that I specifically keep lipsticks, hand lotion (and possibly candy) in within my purse this way I don’t have to search for them and I don’t worry about anything leaking onto my purse.
Deets: $49.90, $75 after sale.

Clarisonic Mia 2 Grey Sonic Skin Cleansing System: I have this exact version and I love it! Sure, you can get newer, more expensive versions but I think this one is perfect! And so is the price now!
Deets: $119.20, Mia 2 Cleansing Brush in Grey, International Charger, Normal Brush Head, Trial-size Refreshing Gel Cleanser, Protective Travel Case (love!), two-year warranty. $149.00 after sale.

Bobbi Brown Secret to Standout Eyes Set: The colors is this eye shadow palette are beautiful and I love how neutral they are, allowing you to mix and match and certainly great for anyone! I especially also love the shade of navy that was thrown in. I’m also a huge fine of this gel eyeliner and of course am always down to try a new mascara. All around great set and would make the perfect gift!
Deets: $85, 12 color eye shadow palette, Full-Size Smoky Eye Mascara, Full-size Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink with a Mini Ultra Fine Eyeliner Brush, as well as Hydrating Eye Cream Packette and tip card. $133 value.

NARS True NARS Lip Pencil Set: I’m a big fan of these NARS lip pencils and this set is a great value! I love the shades, especially Luxembourg, one of my all time faves!
Deets: $49, featuring Yu (shocking pink), Luxembourg (vivid watermelon), and Provocative Red (a limited-edition fuchsia rose) as well as a sharpener. $81 retail.

Not pictured (but not because I don’t love them equally):

MAC Look in a Box Basic Brush Kit: Looking for some new brushes for yourself? If not, this could quite possibly be the best gift ever as makeup brushes suit everyone! Stock up now and be the Oprah of makeup brushes during the holidays!
Deets: $52.50, contains a Powder/Blush Brush, a Foundation Brush, a Concealer Brush, an Eyeshadow Brush, a Pointed Liner Brush, and Tapered Blending Brush, all in an awesome neoprene cosmetics bag. $170 value.

St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse Home & Away Set: St. Tropez is one of my favorite self tanning brands and this mousse is definitely one of my favorite self tanning products, it’s a win-win! And it’s so smart that they not only provide an applicator mitt for your body, but also another for just your face, umm, brilliant!
Deets: $49, Set includes Self Tan Bronzing Mousse, Travel-size Self Tan Bronzing Mousse, Applicator Mitt for Body, and Applicator Mitt for Face. $87.50 value.

Snag these now before they’re all gone! Have a great weekend and happy shopping!

Cosmetic Case of the Mondays

Hello!

Long time, no chat! I know I’ve been hardcore slacking with the blogging but I hope everyone had a great weekend! I went to dinner with girlfriends, attempted to relax, and went to a beyond beautiful wedding on Saturday. I took advantage of the affair and had my makeup done at MAC and of course went home with a bag full of goodies. For those of you looking for a fun summer lip that may be just a tad outside of your comfort zone, check out Flat Out Fabulous from The Matte Lip Collection, which is the most gorgeous fuchsia shade. Be sure to prime your lips first since this is a retro matte color and to help them stay moisturized, line and fill in lips with Fashion Boost lip pencil. Loved the look!

Flat out Fabulous

So remember my post from last month about how everyone in the makeup world was flipping their shit because Urban Decay announced that they were coming out the with Naked Smoky eye palette? Well everyone’s freaking out again because it came out!! You can now order it online from Sephora and Ulta (It’s currently sold out on Urban Decay’s website) and it will be available to purchase in stores this Thursday.
